"THANK YOU"
I was back and forth as to whether I could rationalize darting out of my facility on a 1000 mile drive for only one day because of all of the projects that I have underway and yet in the end I did just that
I rolled out of Northern California at 7:00PM Wednesday heading south towards The GT Guys aka Rich and Dennis looking forward to some face time with them and the opportunity to be a part of the twisting and tweaking of the gals.
Well the drive was wonderful except for the last 30 Miles through LA which I was mentally prepared for and finally arrived around 1:30AM. I found as expected Rich and Dennis in the thick of the twisting and tweaking process. In fact when I arrived they were preparing to put Bony's gal under the proverbial knife so it seemed as though to a person; Rich, Dennis, Alex aka T/A shocks, and myself took on a separate project and proceeded to move Bony's gal through the facility as if a well oiled pit crew.
By the time all the requested twisted and tweaking on Bony and Ed Simm's gals had been completed and delivered back to the hotel the sun was already coming and we (Rich, Dennis and myself) were ready to go find some pillow time.
Then 4 hours later we were back at it; after a quick Starbucks cup-o-Joe we were off to the track event. Now for me it was fricken "HOT" and yet this was soon forgotten when we arrived and saw all the very cool gals and had the opportunity see some old friends and meet many new. I cannot fully express into words how cool it felt to see all of the gals, the litany of personal touches as completed to them and even more the passion as shared by each and every one of you.
For me the trip was soon to be over as I had planned on heading north later in the evening however the hours quickly passed during the time that I spent with Rich and Dennis as twisting and tweaking continued as such I found myself watching the sunrise without any pillow time so I remained yet another day. Once again we found a pillow for a few hours and then were right back at it and this relentless pace continued up until (at least for me) a little after 1:00AM at which point I nodded my head and thanked Rich and Dennis for the opportunity to spend a little time working alongside of them and then brought my gal to life and we proceeded to head back North.
I called Rich at 5:30AM during one of my pit stops and he said that the last wheel was being installed on one of the two gals that we brought over from the hotel to be twisted and tweaked and he said that they would have them back at the hotel just in time for their owner's to roll them back out for the cars and coffee gathering.
So for The GT Guys the relentless pace never stops and yet through it all you will never hear so much as an inkling of frustration because they are truly very passionate about the gals and the folks that own them. Certainly what they do would be defined as work and yet I will share that IMO having had the opportunity work with and get to know them that what they do is better described as a component of who they are; or at the very least who they have become. These are two great guys that truly care; an attribute that is very hard to find regardless of the industry and sadly even harder to find in the often times misleading industry of twisting and tweaking gals.
I would typically make personal mention of many of the folks that I was blessed to spent time with and yet in doing so I am afraid that I would miss someone as such I will simply say that to a person you were all as I had expected; sincere, passionate, and car people through and through and that I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet you.
Having said this there is one name that I will make mentions of; Steve A as this is the person that so graciously opened his facility to The GT Guys thus allowing so many gals to be twisted and tweaked during this gathering and IMO created a watering hole/gathering point of sorts for so many during the time that I was there; I enjoyed chatting with him and want to share a heartfelt thank you to him as well.
Now during my wonderful drive north I never regretted the compression of time that I created for myself and will likely feel for the next few days but rather I regretted not having been able to spend more time simply sitting back and sharing many more experiences with all of you that I have come to appreciate and respect.
Most of you will be gathering your items and loading the gals up for destinations all over come morning as such be safe, have fun, and heaven forbid if you have an issue find comfort in knowing that with little more than a simply "shout out" or smoke signal one of your many friends will do all things possible to get you pointed back into the wind. I will keep an eye on the Forum prepared from this end to do anything possible should a need arise
All the best
