Anyone buy OEM calipers and powder coat them? List price on the Calipers?

Good question. I imagine they are expensive as they are Brembos without the logo.

I have never seen the Black calipers in person. Are they any different in paint finish than the Grey and Red ?

Are ours really painted or are they powder coated? The option Price sure seamed expensive at $750.

A buddy of mine is buying a Red/Wht and wanted the Red Calipers. This one has Blk. I've never seen them in blk and they look good. I called around for him and we concluded the best thing may be to buy an extra 4 and have them painted red and installed.

Having said that, and now apparent, Ford did a substandard job on the paint as there is evidence of red over spray, which a number of people have also confirmed. The after market larger Brembo kit is available for Fronts Only and hence the delemma.

BTW, I checked into the powder coating and it is laborious and expensive - you will have to rebuild the calipers..

Soooo, If anyone has gone the powder coating way PLEASE post pics and report your experience - especially if you have done them in Orange for a Heritage..

I would think that you would want them powder coated just for durability reasons. When you said you hard over spray… were you talking about the caliper or the car? I have the red option and assumed it was powder coated.

The black calipers are the standard option calipers. You could pay and extra $750 and get the calipers done in Red or Gray.

I have heard that some people have upgraded the fronts and then simply painted “Brembo” on the rears. Do a search on this site for more information about that.

I thought they were powder coated as well. I've been told by two sponsors on this forum that they are painted and that is what I meant when I said overspray.

I searched and could not find orange calipers on a Heritage - so if you have one please post..

Cheers!

This is one thread tho it's more about the wheels I think.

Here is another good brake thread.

Black is beautiful.

Red and Grey calipers are $750 more than the standard Black on a new car BUT, Red, Grey, and Black calipers are all the same price when you buy them in a Ford Parts dept. All three colors are finished identically with a high gloss finish. I don't know if it's powdercoat or paint.

What is the price for the calipers at the Ford parts dept?

I honestly don't remember what Jack at Muscle Motors charged me (my paper work is at home), but you can call him to find out. They powder coated my calipers to the matching blue of my car as my wheels are powder coated orange. Orange calipers would look great on a car with stock color wheels. I do remember that they did not have to rebuild the calipers when they powder coated them. Jack and his crew did an excellent job on both the wheels and the calipers.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. JUST YESTERDAY JACK TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REBUILD THEM....

Thanks guys, only thing missing is the white letter tires. I read all the posts on painting the letters on the tires and what a waste of time it was. There is another product for that on the market that I will be trying this weekend hopefully. I'll let everyone know how it works.

If that does not work, I have another idea that I know will work, it just won't stand out as much. We'll see.

Interesting you say this, in watching the assembly process @ Saleen, during the rally, the calipers were finished before going on the car (delivered to Saleen prefinished, by Brembo, or another supplier). Because it was a red car maybe body overspray? My car is black, so any overspray is going to be pretty hard to pick up......
