Navigation update on new GT

Last week I got a message through Ford Pass that my new GT was open to a free upgrade of the navigation system, i.e. new maps etc. I tried doing it through my phone but no dice. I got error message 016 and to call Ford Service at an 800 number. I called on Monday and was told my Sync was not the latest version. I tried to upgrade over wifi, but it told me I had the latest version (2.3.17179). I called again this morning and was given a different website for the download and was told MS Edge does not always help and to download Google Chrome and try it there. Did that and still no go, same error message. So i call the service number again and thankfully the lady tells me I do not have the latest Sync, version 3.0 so my navigation will not update. Sync version 3 is not out yet. No clue when it will come.

Moral of the story: Don't waste your time on this.

My works great . No issues. I agree don’t mess with it!
It’s like every time I do an upgrade with my iPhone. I regret it!

"Upgrade" / Update pfft .. My theory is those help the vendor more often than the user. And sometimes neither.
 
Frank, you must have an old interweb connection. Time to get rid of Prodigy.

Yes, that must be the problem. I had to learn all the Google stuff to keep up with gradeschoolers
 
Gentlemen,

I have no idea how to work the navigation system of anything but my I-Phone. I still like paper maps!

I agree, but I do like things to be functional.
 
Dr Frank still has a flip phone.

No no no, I still use a Blackberry, Indy is the flip phone guy.

My old Mclaren went through 14 software upgrades and the GPS still didn’t work properly!
 
That’s why the only GPS/nav I want in a new car is an ApplePlay connection.
 
Yup, I use Apple Play. No problems running my Waze. Got a speeding ticket in September. Deferred adjudication. Gotta stay clean for 180 days.

6 months is a long deferred. You must have been moving along.

I have had a 3 month deferred, and one time a 1 month.

Remember to put it in your calendar, as I waited until the last day to send in my stuff, and almost blew it.
 
This is so funny...I'm thinking who pranked Frank....that was so good the 800 number was a nice touch.
GT's come with AAA Trip Ticket, ask Chip.
 
Raceman glad to see your sense of humor is still intact. I think Chip is still in shock from turning blue.
