Gentlemen,

I just recently got my beautiful new F-150 out of the body shop after crushing the bottom of the passenger door while 4 wheeling. The door needed to be replaced but the work was excellent and my new aluminum truck was perfect again. :banana :banana :banana :cheers

But not for long. :frown :willy

Driving home from Payson tonight on the Beeline Highway at 70mph a frigging Mountain Lion sprang out of the desert at warp speed directly in front of my truck. The hit was violent and it sounded and felt like a bomb going off in my radiator. The lion flew 35 yards and landed in the middle of the road with other cars swerving around it. My bumper was crushed back against the right front tire rendering the truck undrivable, the front of the bumper was caved in, the lower grill was blown out, fender liners shattered, and upper grill supports broken.

I ran down the road and gathered up the male lion that looked about 3 years old and 125 pounds and put him in the back of my truck. then got out my shop tools and attacked the bumper end jammed into my tire. It took nearly an hour to cut it off and pry the fender liners away from the tire and made it home.

Tomorrow......back to the body shop. :frown

I've had better nights.

Chip

All that matters is that you are safe!
That's what insurance is for.
Gonna have the cat mounted?
Best,
Mark

Glad you weren't in your GT! And that you're OK ! Hard to imagine you only driving 70 though! Lol

Wow that's quite a story
Glad your ok!
What did you do with the lion?

I know you have a great taxidermist.

chip, glad you are ok,

Who hits a lion? Who carries bolt cutters?:biggrin

Chip, in England that's called "Sod's Law", you hit stuff only after getting a new vehicle. I drove my old Range Rover for seven years around the Hill Country with no problem, but two weeks after getting my new one a kamikazi deer jumped into the front of it. As others have said, it's only a truck and you are OK, but a lion is one of the coolest things you could have hit!

Note to moderator: this post should be placed in a new section for Mercury Products. The Cougar (mountain lion) is dead. ;-))

I guess you could say the front of the truck is catewampus

Thats a great story that will be told many times for years to come. I feel bad for the lion and your truck. Glad you are ok.

No One can top that story even if you went out looking for a lion! Glad you weren't hurt and glad you weren't in a New GT! Wow!

Tomy,

I drive my GT to Payson often because it's a really cool scenic road. First thing I thought of after that hit was "I'm so happy I'm not in a GT, new or old.

This story beats Donny Mac's rabbit stuck in his front splitter at Rally XI.

That’s how you do a cat delete.

That’s how you do a cat delete.

Don't usually do a cat delete on an F150, so this is unique.

Sorry for the mountain lion, but glad you'r OK chip.

Crazy! No lions here in MN thank goodness. Glad you are safe.

LOL

^^^ "Cat Delete". Post of the day.

Poor kitty. That particular F-150 might be jinxed. Get it fixed and trade it in on a 2018 with the refreshed grill and tail lights.
