How fast is a stock ford gt in the standing mile thx
one on youtube showed 170 mph

It's right around there. Depends on weather, wind, driver, etc, but 170 is a good bet.

thx i thought 200 i was wrong, how about with pully tune exhaust and throttle body

I would say somewhere between 180-190, +/- 5 mph for the weather. Stormcat went 185 on a VERY hot day at the Texas Mile when most similar cars were doing around 175, and if my memory serves me, there was a car that was at the Texas Mile when the conditions were favorable that did like 194 with pulley/tune/exhaust/TB and a bunch of other little odds and ends mods.

thx i might buy a whipplebut i am still up in the air because my car is not slow now.

FWIW, at the Rally 7 Drag N Laps, with pulley, tune, 16 psi, tb, FRPP exhaust, I was at red line in 4th (172 mph) in 3,000' (the get off the throttle point). That was with a very soft easy on the drivetrain launch. 172 mph is 252'/sec, which means the remaining 2,280' would be covered in <9 sec. A shift to 5th and another 7-8 sec of full throttle might bring close to 180. IDK how strong 5th pulls though. A good launch and not burning rubber in 1st and 2nd should be worth a few more mph.

Brian, I believe had a pulley and tune, not stock, but his times were the fastest of all pulley and tune cars and faster than many Whipples that day. Even with a Whipple you need favorable conditions (cool air and a tailwind) to pass 200 in the mile (using street gas and 19 PSI pulley). Best Whipple mile I remember was 206 in TX.

I was referring to pulley and tune cars when talking about Stormcat.

I don't recall any Whipple cars being anywhere near 206 when we were there at Rally 4. I thought there were quite a few well into the 180's because it was so hot.

Here was a list AZGT compiled after we all went there. I don't know if all these are from that day. Keep in mind, it was literally 100* out with significant humidity. It was a good test for "worst case scenario for power" weather.

It was during a later TX mile event. One of Shadowman's customers did it with a modified tune that took less timing out when the air temps rose during the end of the run. Big tailwinds that day helped as well.

The TX mile during the rally was HOT HOT HOT!!!

My car had IAT at 180+ and was running only 11 deg of timing at the end of the run, sapping all of the power.

here is a vid of me and my GT runnin at Mojave back when i had a pulley + tune and cat back x-pipe :thumbsup i went 182.3 mph in the mile with a 4000' Density Altitude and 10 mph crosswind :cool i was running the factory stock tires and stock supercharger with a mere 14.5 psi of boost. i hit 7,000 rpm's in 4th gear :biggrin

I did 195.5 at the Texas Mile with a pulley and tune (25 mph tailwind though). I did 187.7 the day before with light winds.

I did 215.x with my SC/TT on that same day.

You weren't the guy I was thinking of, but close enough. I thought someone on here got real close to nicking 200 mph with a pulley/tune/exhaust that had a bunch of other little additional mods on one of those crazy tailwind days.

Red GT with pulley and tune plus a buch of other small stuff, I'm pretty sure he got over my 195.5 and maybe just got 200. Wasn't done with a tailwind. Shesgotlegs??

Definitely wasn't Terry. I'll have to look this up now. Can't remember the username.

Nice. Accufab x-pipe with cats? Hope mine sounds that good when I install my pipe.

187.6 Bone Stock with a Jon Lund Tune.
