Would you put this in the main coolant tank, intercooler tank, or both?

Both. It works well with distilled water. I was never able to see any inprovement when mixed with coolant.

It does improve heat transfer, is a very good corrosion inhibiter and pump seal lubricant. It offeres NO freeze protection. It also requires annual replacement.

+1

So if I have a 50/50 mix (I assume) in now, this will offer no additional protection?

Will not noticably help. I would not recommend using it unless you plan a complete drain and refill.

Sounds good. Thanks!

Tho I am sure I would get better results with just water and Wetter only, I did see some improvement in the car and much improvement in a boat closed cooling system, both with about 40% antifreeze.

There is also this for even better results;

Damn! Have you tried this on your car or any engine?

I have not. It comes highly recommended in the Hi-Performance Marine world tho.

It is not cheap.

Its a propolyene glycol coolant premix. Very similar to the product Prestone sold for a few years as a non-toxic antifreeze.

I thought this is still around.....or am I thinking of Sierra?

The Sierra is what I was referring to. Did not know Prestone was still marketing the non-toxic stuff. Its also available in the drug store in powder form, sold as Mirralax......exact same chemical in medical grade form.

How much would that cost, $500 per gallon? :lol

I am old enough to have experienced that a couple times now..............nasty nasty nasty stuff.

I added the water wetter to 40% Sierra in that boat closed cooling system I mentioned. Maybe that is why I saw some decent results?

Could be. I just have never been a fan of Propolyene Glycol as a coolant. If its exposed to ANY hydrocarbons it forms a rag layer that is very diffecult to clean up. Would be near impossible in the GT cooling system.

For me, I either need antifreeze protection and use Motorcraft Gold or Zerex Z06 (same stuff) or I don't need anti-freeze protection and opt for better cooling performance and use water-wetter with distilled water. Long history with both with fine but different results. Both in cars and industrial. There are industrial versions of water-wetter called heat media system surfactants or heat transfer agents.

I run Evans coolant

By Hydrocarbons, I assume you mean oil or fuel.

Would a 60%-70%ethylene glycol mix (run for a brief time) tend to clean that out as it will often clean out other crud layered on the inside of the water passages?

Yes, fuel, oil. Small amounts that seep in is all it takes. Only a strong acid / detergent solution can break the emulsion and dislodge it from metal parts. Don't go there, just not worth the risk in this car.

I have always thought Evans was a good match for diesels that would prefer a higher operation temp anyway. While evans will not boil at anywhere near normal operation temps, it does not move as much heat as water either.

I spoke with a guy who did back to back coolant testing with 100% water, 50/50 Anti-freeze and water +2 bottle of W-Wetter. He reported that the 100% water had the greatest cooling effect. However the benefit of adding W-Wetter as a lubricant and anticorrosion was worth the investment. Additionally I found it interesting that a major benefit was the it lubricates the inside of the engine coolant tunnels and prevents/inhibits bubbles from sticking to the metal channels of the cooling system, where air acts like and insulator.

I need to improve cooling, I'm temping out a bit early. I was speaking with a guy over the weekend who claims to have used straight Water Wetter in his race bike and had great results. Anyone heard of that?
