Dusty Powder Coated Wheels.. new pads?

Are pads a DIY change? I've swapped rotors before. Would I need to bleed the brakes?

Yep, Once wheels are off and besides wiping everthing clean the actual pad swap is about five minutes. I am not bleeding my brakes right now as GT Guys changed all my fluids about a year ago so I think brake fluid should be fine. I will bleed them before a track day though.

Subscribing because I want to know. Also, Ed what is the name of the spray you use to keep the rest of your GT so clean?

What's the name & where do you get it?

Ed

Here are the results and product, after driving 900+ miles. I would say that the product works. I did take the wheels off to apply it helps get full coverage while avoiding spraying the brakes.

Wouldn't you want it on your calipers, too? Mine get dirtier than the wheels from the dust.

Probably so, but not the rotors or pads.

I am amazed at how that wheel looks BlackICE!
Incredible.
I've got to get some of that stuff pronto!
I just removed wheels and pads and cleaned everything up after a two day track session last weekend. I sure wish I would have known about it so I could have sprayed the wheels while I had them off and real purty like.

Maybe you just weren't asking it the right questions! :lol

Its the pads. For street use, I can highly recommend Duralast Cmax Ceramic pads front and rear to all but eliminate the dust problem. They are also quiet and stop just as well as the OEM Brembo pads in day to day use. They do not last as long, I got 20k a set including a few track days on my GT500 but replacements are free when they wear out and easy 30 minute change. Also, rotor wear is nearly non-existant. I have them on my GT now and the wheels stay clean as long as the rest of the car.

Oh, I also use Armor All Wheel Protectant on the wheels when I installed the pads. Makes what dust does stick wash off with a simple rinse, no scrubbing.

Just one man's opinion that works for me.

I am sooooooo tired of the brake dust.....anyone know of a supplier in Canada for the Duralast brake pads ? Any comments relating to said pads .........?

If you cannot find the Cmax pads in Canada let me know, I can pick them up for you locally and ship them to you. They are only sold at Autozone that I have found. Will Autozone.com ship to CA?

I can tell you since installing the Duralast pads I have driven approx 800 miles and there is little to no brake dust on my wheels

Thanks for the offer...I have a winter home in Phoenix but won't be there untill Sept so I'll pick them up then. I guess I was getting impatient....another couple months won't kill me!

I believe Duralast is a house brand of Autozone.

+1. The dust delta is impressive and performance is increased, wish I'd done this long ago. $116.03 from Autozone delivered. :thumbsup My stockers had plenty of pad left but were crumbling at the edges, I guess age and heat cycles got to them.
