Once again I find myself turning wrenches. My 63 Corvette SWC is home from a three year visit to the bodyshop. I almost lost interest in her but I finally have her home.
The car has 60K miles on her and documented. Black/Black all #'s matching. PS/PB/PG 327/300 and a really nice cruiser that is awesome to drive. All original drive train with no smoke whatsoever.
I am personally polishing and refinishing as much of the original equipment on the car as much as possible. I would rather have something original and not so perfect over Chinese made crappy parts.
The drive train has been completely gone through - gaskets, plugs, hoses etc. The suspension has been gone through, parts powder coated and aligned perfectly. The radiator, steering column, starter, water pump, carburetor, pumpkin etc. rebuilt not replaced with re-manufactured parts. All new weather/rubber.
I don't care about NCRS but I want to get the car where it reflects my pride of ownership and not someone else's judgment. The car was owned by 2 guys before me and I spoke to both of them. The last guy was a doctor out of Venice Beach CA where he had parked it for the past 18 years and had owned it since 1967. The original black plates were found in the box of parts as well. The interior is the next step!
I find myself in my workshop most evenings until the wee hours of the night rocking away to old tunes with my trusted companion Diesel and his sister's ashes Delilah in its urn on my workbench. I miss her, but life is good!
