I think Dave squashed these rumors on a previous thread. Still interesting it is being written about in the press again.

"...total power will sit north of 600 ponies..."

The extra 50(maybe) ponies would be needed just to push the additional weight of the motor/batteries in order to 'keep up' with today's FGT.

Just remember his silence means it's for real.

Did I see that funky green (IMHO) car on a site of a German tuner that "specialized" in GTs? I think it was their flagship car.

Maybe its just in the UK/Eurozone? This article has a picture of what the new GT will look like. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/262957/ford_gt_returns_as_hybrid.html
I personally prefer our cars look and am not a fan of the new car if it in fact is made.

I like it...though not the grille area so much. But, the question is: could one replace the windshield w/o taking the front end apart! :lol

(It's pretty clear where the REAR DESIGN came from, isn't it...:biggrin)

I thought FORD committed to never reproducing the GT , and certainly not in some sort of an electric car that you have to plug in like a golf cart , the GT currently stands for everything power and lets us forget about the daily driver cars when we are in it , or at leats that is what I feel

I personally think a new GT in any shape and form would destroy what we now have , almost all the posts associated with our cars values are based on the car only being produced for 2 years , unlike the corvettes , vipers , ferraris , etc. which have a new model every year

Before you know it the mythical new electric FORD GT will become a daily driver and everyone will have one , I dont like what I am hearing or maybe I am way off base , I hope so

IMO even if Ford comes out with a new "GT" it will not have a significant impact on the 2005-06 models, if it doesn't look like the cars that won Le Mans.

Nomenclature counts much less than appearance and a connection with racing history.

I agree, a new ford supercar should not impact these cars. If (and the KEY word here is "IF") Ford comes out with another supercar, it wont be anything like the GT.

There is another article that shows a rendering of a silver "GT". The article has some interesting info in it.

Can't find the link.....

Lots of styling shared with the GR1 from a few yeas back.

Ditto, but I would buy one.

I've heard from someone that claims to be close to the Ford Family that there is an electric supercar in the works, that is more of a compliment, than a direct continuation of the Ford GT (40).

DBK is being awfully quiet..... What's up Dave?
