I did not realize the hoods on our cars are $7K... Is this an OEM supplier or an aftermarket replacement?

He collects.......Hoods? Hoods only? Or is he a parts speculator?

Selling to take his dad fishing. Was he a hoarder that had an intervention? :confused

If he breaks even at the buy it now price, is it OEM?

If I remember correctly the maker of the stock Ford GT hood closed out the last of their inventory about a year ago. There was about 9 hoods and they were a good deal. I considered buying all of them as I thought they would be a good investment but decided not to as Kip and others were/are making quality CF hoods that can be painted to look stock or with some CF revealed like Bony's hood. I think $3000 is a good buy and perhaps the seller did exactly what I was thinking about doing. I believe they cost about $3000 when they were being closed out but I'm not sure about that price.

My questions, though not as funny as I meant them to be, were still real questions. Chip may have answered most of them.

He has 8 packs of these hoods in crates from how they shipped to ford. I imagine he got a good deal on them.....
 
My spare hood came in black.

No I don't. I examined Daniels however and it looks great. Kip will make them with or without the windshield wiper cutouts.

Those hoods were the last of the batch made by the 2nd ford gt supplier of hoods....joe traverna......some may know his canadian company as one of the leaders in corvette repair panels and replacement panels....They are the smooth mold inside'06 STYLE" as his buck cut out a number of steps that made a smoother piece over the original 05 ,lets call them the non smooth 05 hoods.......underneath....by the way, his factory hoods met and beat the first batch on crash tests and stress almost 2 to 1.....so yes they are real, they were originally 3 grand, for the pair in the crate......so good luck, if you need joe's number just pm...gtjoey1314
