We are still moving along preparing for the fun September 2-day race weekend. As of now, we have confirmed that we WILL be able to leave all of our trailers/cars/equipment on the Grid at Taxiway Bravo for the entire weekend once you set up. The Airport has agreed to this, and we are paying for the extra security to watch over it all in the evenings. You will not be able to camp there or sleep overnight there, regretfully, but at least you can set up your “home base.”

The Airport has told us that they do not have an area where RVs can “dry camp” which means if you plan to stay in an RV or trailer, you will have to stay at the Mariah Inn & Suites back lot, or make other arrangements.

We will again be using the Mariah Inn & Suites for our Registration and Friday Tech Inspection, plus we will host the “welcome racers” finger-food meet & greet there on Friday night. This time, we will be using the larger Dining Room area for this, which should make things a little easier.

We are told that the Airport might POSSIBLY be doing some runway improvement while we are there, specifically, smoothing and recovering the concrete areas at each end of the runway. If they are, we have been assured that it will not affect our event. We at MKM have a few options here in adjusting our race course to make sure we do not get into any construction zones. We always knew they were going to do this, and it actually is a good thing for us, because once they are finished (almost certainly before the 2011 race season!) we can use the full 12,500-foot length of the runway for acceleration and slowdown. This opens up the possibility of 1 1/3 mile events (for you El Mirage racers), gives us more flexibility, and, of course, more safety with a longer run-out for the ultra-fast guys.

We are definitely on for being able to select our run direction at the beginning of the weekend to take advantage of any wind, or, more importantly, to make sure we aren’t racing in the teeth of a headwind! We expect to see many, many more 200-mph-plus runs in September! If we run north-to-south this time, instead of south-to-north as we did in March, we will still operate from Taxiway Bravo. The only difference in switching directions is that you will drive down the parallel taxiway from the Grid and stage at the other end.

We will have a tentative weekend schedule posted on the website by next week, plus I will add a summary of the changes we have made to our program since the March event. Most of these are small adjustments, plus incorporating many suggestions we received from you guys to help us improve.

For those of you going to Speed Week next week, GOOD LUCK!! Be safe there, and let’s see some new speed records! Once you get back, wash off the salt and come out to Mojave for some more speed fun!

If anyone reading this wants to copy and repost it to their forums or car clubs, please feel free to do so, and use this link www.mojavemile.com to connect to the website.

You TT guys will do that for sure. I am working on making it with just a Whipple, but won't have anything until March. The option to change directions will surely help raise the speeds, but I think I need a little more to get to the 200+ mark.

I better have two days of multiple 200mph runs. :lol

Can't wait till then. :cheers

Cool, you are going to go too Clinton? :thumbsup I have no doubt you will do it. You were too close last time with the cruddy conditions we had. :cheers I re-read your post, you are not making this one but going to in March? I still think you could pick it up as your car was. A little push from the wind can make a big difference.

You can't really have any doubt?:rolleyes :biggrin

I think if we got to run the opposite direction, with the wind it would maybe add 10 MPH and my poor shifting was another 3 MPH getting me very close. The temperatures during the 1st event was ideal beginning at the high 50s ending in the mid 60s. I think Sept. will be warmer and the air density there sucks. With my cars as it is now I would need ideal conditions to get close to 200, I want a little margin. You guys with the TT can do 200+ into a 20 MPH headwind without any problems. Just laughing at low air densities and headwinds.

If I get off my butt, I hope to be able to add a little boost and run more timing and that will get me over 200 with some room to spare. I want to a try for the record speed in the mile with a Whipple only. :biggrin

Well, I know you are very good with knowing where your car is, but I think with a little aero work, (tape) and the different direction they will be running, you will have easy margin to do it. The winds are usually stronger than the ones we had as head winds that day and they will be behind you for sure this time. We were also running uphill as it was last time. I saw people run over 200 at the Texas mile when the wind changed that should not have been "able" to with the mods they had. I really think you have the technology!:thumbsup

I'm sure many are prepping for the Rally, but who will be running at Mojave this weekend?

Sadly, since I've been a lazy bump (or too busy at the office) and have done nothing to the car so I won't be running this time; however, I do plan on being there on Saturday to wintness greatness and to cheer on for Terry & Monica, Skyrex, and Fastfreddy as they break 200mph or personal best, depending on your set up!! Who else is running? There is a slim chance that I might change my mind and run the GT to get my 180mph slip this time, since I was soooo close last time at 178.8....(only if I didn't spin the wheels in 1st.....).

Not too many GT's this time Ed. Don't think Freddy is going to make it either.

You are a driver not a spectator brother :thumbsup so bring your GT down and run. You will kill 180 easily especially with the wind. Weather looks good for all weekend. :cheers

Since they will setup the runs to go in the most favorable direction you should be able to past 180 without much of a problem. If you go why not make a few runs?
