So I'm planning on going from LA to Chicago to surprise my dad for a father, son picture with our gt's. Might not put the clear bra on but would like options to tape up the front end. Gaffers tape??? What and where should I get the stuff that you guys are going to recommend?
Thanks,
Timmy

Why not just use "Shadowman BLUE tape"...or that new, green, "Frog Tape"?

You could ALSO consider Griot's Garage's clear body film that comes in rolls. It's specifically INTENDED as a temp body rap for just such an outing...

A couple places make temporary spray on products now. Here is one.

Perfect ideas particularly "Shadowman BLUE tape"; available by the sleeve at Home Depot or ?

Talk to Indy GT. He used some white packing tape perfect for your white car. It looked ridiculous on his Tungsten, and we refused to be seen with him, but it did work very well. Remember, the bugs will kill you in the Midwest. Try to drive during the day.

Tim, I've seen some guys use the carpet protection roll (found at Home Chepot) used predominantly during construction or remodeling. It is pretty sticky and you'll have to leave it in the sun for a bit to manage it off. Any glue solvent can get the residue off as well, just make sure you wash it off with soap when ur done.

I believe STUNTS is more interested in preventing rock chips and such, MN'. :cheers

I have used the Griot rolls before. They would be my choice for a cross country trip over the blue tape.

I saw others use this at a track day. It's not inconspicuous, but seems like it could be a suitable alternative for blue tape. Anyone know if it's easy to use, provides good protection...or if it's any good at all??

Looks user friendly enough.

H'mmmmmm. I wonder if this is the same stuff Griot's Garage sells?:shrug

Tim -

Heli-tape works excellently - I drove my car back from Detroit with heli-tape installed on all the leading edges by Saleen, prior to having the clear bra installed.

Tim-
This topic has been discussed before-

I would suggest some temporary coverage for the front/leading edges of your car for a trip from California to Illinois. As Frank indicated I used the 3M temporary white film to protect my car for the trip up to Joliet but mostly for on the track behind other cars. It worked very well, protected the surface for the drive up and back as well as a full day at the track and came off easily without any residue. I highly recommend the film.
As the above link amplifies, Forum member Not4N offered and supplied this film to those of us who wanted it. I bought a roll and have been very pleased with it's performance.

I have used the road wrap on several of my cars it works great. Goes on real easy, just don't think you can make it look professional. You just roll it across and try and smooth it out best you can. Very quick to put on not at all like rolling blue tape. I would say one layer of this stuff is equal to the blue tape for rock and debris chip protection.

I left mine on for several weeks which is longer than advised. It pulled off super easy 30 seconds and all bugs were gone and front of car looked perfect. It is the perfect stuff for road trip or track and then remove when you arrive.

It left slightest residue on my SHO but one wash that was gone.

I also purchased the BUG OFF protection coating. It really should be sprayed on with a paint sprayer or something so it goes on in a fine even coat. The bottle sprayer pprovided did not work so well. But the stuff worked great. I have the massive EXCURSION and it takes forever to clean. I drove through rain which removed most of the product though so it's not as good as Road Wrap for a long roady trip.

Both products have value and are great for getting your car somewhere and have it clean when you arrive.

Shadowman!!! Is this a gaffers tape or basic painters trim tape? Does it come in BLACK?

How would I apply these on my GT? The girls that is? WOW HHGT, SAMMYYYYYY
