At close to 7,000 miles, the rear OEM GT tires on my beast were starting to wear thin. Thanks to Heritage Bruce for all the information on the Bridgestone Potenza Tire alternative. Finally, something slotting between the bubble gum sticky Hoosiers and the brick hard OEM F1's. So, I pulled the trigger and had Tire Rack ship a set from their warehouses.
After seeing the wonderful custom wheels of our local GT'ers, and most recently, what Dennis had done with his factory six spokes, I decided now might be a good time to make a change. Many thanks to the comments and suggestions of fellow members, in sorting through my questions about painting vs. powdercoating, etc. A couple times, I almost threw in the towel, and stayed with the stock silver finish and put the new set of tires on. Fortunately, I went for it. I know it's just wheels, but I was a little nervous about messing up.
Here are my proud results. I wanted to stay with the stock BBS forged wheels, which I like, and add a touch of personal style. Hope you like them. Puts such a smile on my face when I look at her. Process is a chemical strip and a low temperature powder coating.
I gave a couple impromptu rides the other day, to one of my builders, and to a manager, and they absolutely loved it. Both are car guys. We are so lucky to have this masterpiece of engineering, a capable and competent performer, and a ever growing collection of stories and tribute to american motoring history, and the camaraderie of fellow members.
Life is good. :wink
