GTs at Mecum Kissimmee Jan 15

I got back on this forum after binge watching the recording of the Mecum auction. To me it seems like prices are way up. My take is that some of it is inflation, some of it may be people pulling out of other investments that don't do as well as cars when there is high inflation. Some of it is...

Serious Damaged GT on IAAI asking 165K

IAAI has a GT that didn't meet reserve at approximately 137,000. It is currently at 120 and they are asking 165,000. Am I missing something, how can this make financial sense. I haven't really looked at the price of parts lately, if the value is from parts. I am assuming this car could be...

Vehicle registration now required to purchase parts

Whenever I hear something like this I always consider there is another reason that is hidden by the original inquiry My thought are that it may be a roundabout way to keep track of owners for recall notices and or marketing. Data is so valuable right now why not come up with a bogus reason for...

Is the collector car market topping out?

I signed in to the Auction as I was going to bid on several cars, including the Ford GT. They all went for fairly high amounts in my opinion, definitely no bargains. The 2014 Corvette sold for 54,000 = 57,240, the 2009 Ferrari 430 sold for 218,000 plus 6% or $231,080, the MP4-12C sold for...

Is the collector car market topping out?

2006 Tungston with 4,500 miles sold today at Kansas City Auction for $285,000 plus 6% commission $302,100.I haven't been watching the sales in a long time but isn't this one pretty good?

Private Sale GT Market Moves Quick

    Mosler MT900S

The car at BJ was a different car then the one Tom purchased. I believe the BJ car had been in a race track incident and repaired while I think Tom's car was originally purchased by a gentleman in St Louis. Not sure who purchased the BJ car but I think it went for north of 240K.

    Damaged 06 auction

I will never understand how the auction prices run so high on salvage vehicles. I was bidding on the Kirkham Cobra at 42,000. It went for 61,000 plus fees, shipping and tax will easily be 65,000. A quick search of that car for sale shows a Colorado seller "where there was a recent flood" asking...

Nitto 05 vs 05R vs Hoosier Advice

I posted this on 2 forums and there have been very few replies. Maybe with some more specific information someone here will have some recent experience they could relate. The best advice I have been given so far is that the 05R's will connect even with the HP I have. What I am looking for here...

Nitto 05 vs 05R vs Hoosier Advice

Not for my GT but I was hoping to get some advice here since there are so many high HP GT's. I have been running Hoosier A-6's for 2 years now and it is time to make a change. I am really tired of two issues, number one the rocks it throws on the car, and the lack of stick when it gets cold...

My 3 year old gets so excited about my car........

Boy I see a lot of similarities in this thread to my family. My 16 year old got his license a month ago and tonight is only the second time he is driving without his parents. I remember when I was 16 I probably drove all day every day. My kids are used to 100 mph speeds I remember once my...

    Nitto 05's verses Hoosiers

Is is safe to assume that after 24 months my existing Hoosiers should be replaced. I only have 1500 miles on them but I have been reading that they do not last that long. What brought this question up in the first place is I felt them give a little in a turn. Probably just the set up of the...

    Nitto 05's verses Hoosiers

I was hoping someone here could give me some advice on the Nitto 05's verses the Hoosier A6 tires. This site was very helpfull when I replaced the tires on my GT and there is a lot of experience in rear engine high horsepower here. These are for my Mosler. I currently run the A6's but since...

Invite- Car and Air show - Thunder over Michigan - August 5, 2012

Weather permitting means a few more things for an old fighter plane then our GT's. If it rains and we don't slow down below 200mph the paint can be stripped off of the front of the wing. Not sure if it does on the P-47 but it has happened to me before. Normal speed is 265mph indicated. Also this...

Pics of new additions to stable

Airplanes can be a lot cheaper. I currently have 13 of them. Some of them are very expensive but there are a few of them were I just laugh at the low costs. You can buy a 100 mph Taylorcraft for under $20,000, and expect to sell it for the same amount if you keep it up properly. Annuals can be...

Anyone have experience with a Subterranean Garage Lift

For me at least I will have a door from the side since my land slopes off and there is an existing retaining wall that will accommodate the entrance. The way I have seen these sold is they are cut into an existing basement. But I have also seen a trap door in one of them.

Anyone have experience with a Subterranean Garage Lift

Ever since I saw this video on You Tube I have been interested in one of these. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm1IfqVofNA I have found two manufacturers and the price looks like somewhere around 70 to 80K for a 2 car lift installed. Since I am land locked (on our local lake) and I already...

What would you buy if you have multiple GTs?

My suggestion is a Mosler MT900S Incredible performance and reasonably priced. Very comfortable to drive for what it is. After owning several Ferrari's I can tell you the maintenance cost's can be extreme. The Mosler is a LS motor and most of the parts are aftermarket race products. I work on...
