Would you buy it?

Ahh...my first thread on this terrific forum. Thanks guys for alot of info over the last couple of months.

I have an opportunity to buy an '05 Black/stripes with all options at what I consider an excellent price. The car is a late build '05...right before MSRP went up. So MSRP is 156 and change. Car is new...17 miles. Price is 144k. Haven't seen any this low..unless I am out of the loop.

PS This is not an advertised car......but a friendly dealer needs it to be gone. What is the going price on an '05 156k MSRP?

Curious on your thoughts. Thanks, A.J.

If you've got the scratch burning a hole in your pocket, hell yeah. 17 miles? Late 05 for 12k under MSRP? Do it. And then in a couple of years, you can sell it to me on the cheap. :biggrin

The quantity of multiple GT owners is actually pretty staggering. It has to be enough to effect the overall market for the car long run. I know at least handful of people that have one of every color, several with 3-4, and a whole boatload of 2 GT owners. Pretty rare.

btw, shouldn't we change your name to GTman???

Yes...I should. I have sold all but one of my "Italian" cars...and the GT is my new personal favorite of all time!!

My guess is we are a few years away from price appreciation for these awesome machines. In the meantime they will depreciate like any other "new" and semi-rare auto. 4000 cars is a big number and 165k is really not that high of a price. When you combine those two factors you have a car that is a little like a "Pantera" and a little like a ZL1.
If you want it an can afford it then buy it and drive it or whatever you do that brings you joy; but dont plan on it being a retirement account for some time! :wink

At my age...a long term investment in future collectables is not a motive...unfortunately. However..I always want to feel like I got the best of the deal. I do feel however..that the GT will have a much shorter depreciation cycle than most cars. I personally don't see a nice GT ever hitting the 30% depreciation #...and 20% may be a stretch. JMO

If I had the cash and was so inclined, I would buy that car in a heartbeat.

I also do not believe GT prices will follow the normal depreciation cycle. Demand has been stable and supply is, well, drying up. The last US bound car will be built in a few weeks.

There is something alluring about this car that is inexplicable...

Thank you..those are the words I wanted to hear!!

The car is obviously going to continue to depreciate for the foreseeable future, but like it's been said, the build ends in a few weeks. There is no follow up car. You have a car very similar in price and production numbers to a Ferrari 360, but there is no 430 to follow. Look how stable 360 prices remain 6-7 years later with greater volume and the new version.

Not that I care about it anyways, the car is in the garage for the sheer joy of looking at it/driving it/owning it...

I'd guess that if you don't want the car for 144K, there are guys here who would be glad to pick it up. Take it and run - sorry - drive.

I shopped and researdched extensively - $144 is a fabulous deal for a $157 MSRP car. I just purchased a new 05 with all 4 options this week (to be delivered on Monday) for several thousand more $, yet I'm confident that I got a very, very good deal. I would be able to pay 2/3 of the PA sales tax due on the car with difference between what you and I paid.

A frigging steal at that price. And a great color combination to boot! :thumbsup

That is a great deal! I shopped like crazy for mine, and didn't find anything that low! Mine has the higher MSRP, but who cares. I say go for it!

If you get it consider this. I think I talked Steve Saleen into producing a black one with gold stripes (GT350H) for his personal GT. It would look killer. Either now or some years off have your stripes redone in gold. Goldmember will write you a big check when you are ready to sell.

From what we learned last week the Saleen factory is the place to get it done. That way you could say it was done at the manufacturer.

I waited too long and missed the car. It sold 3 weeks ago I believe. I know the guy who bought it...and he couldn't be happier!! There is a new 05 Red with all options available at 148k if anyone is interested. PM me for dealer info.

The black one for $144k was a MUCH better deal!

After seeing about 300 cars waiting to ship at Wixom I wouldn't be too worried about the prices going up short term. You should be able to steal one between 12-15 and 12-31-06.

LAMBOAJMAN, having 2 cars the same color serves no purpose when you are really looking for another color. If your preference is a Tungsten, a Tungsten at msrp is a better value for your psyche. I'll help find you one, if that's what you want.

Hey Buddy!! I don't want another car...good deals just keep popping up. I am happy with what I have.

I was at a car show today and 3 different people were asking about used GT's, when I mentioned this car, they all wanted the phone number of the dealer to run out and buy it.
