Windshield Skin Report

They came to my house as i am local to get the fit for their first windsheild . Told me to contact them in a week or so for local install at their shop tried to set appt 4 or 5 times have never heard from these guys again guess they got what they needed. John

I am a bill board for 'no follow up as promised', people comment and ask what happened....
I tell them the exact truth. Hope Bo finds this thread. I am an unhappy camper.

No reflection on Stormy, he was not available when my installer did the job and we tried to call him for advise, the next morning it was to late. Oh well.:thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

Humm.. they told me that they went out and bought a windshield for a template?? Did they offer you a free skin and install fro your trouble? ... regards, Brian

Well that would really suck if that was the case.

My film was installed by a local window tint guy and it came out very nice. I am pleased. I just handed him the film w/o the instructions. He put it on just like he would regular window tint, except on the outside of course.

I guess they had a windsheild at their shop at that time but have to have one in the car to see how much glass was exposed after being installed in car.I was kinda disappointed but not realy a big deal. Thanks John:cheers

Hello Brian,
Thanks so much. FGT is in my storage area, and I haven't seen her since returning from Shadowman's. Am off most of next week on a trip, so I am having issues finding time to snap a picture, sorry. It is on my list of things I 'gotta get done.':wink The CF piece is great.
Cheers, daniel

No problem !! I know your a busy guy!!! :biggrin

Hey Stormcat,

Aside from using the squeegee, did you use any additional tools during the install such as a heat gun or anything else that didn't come with the installation kit?

I had a bitch of a time getting the air pockets out of the ends of the windshield - right by the roof pillars - so much so that I aborted the install altogether and reapplied the liner backer while I figure out what to do next. I have experience applying decals which are more vinyl like and hence stretchier but the windshield protector is alot stiffer and has no stretch.

Is the windshield protector reuseable or once I've figured out how to handle this matter should I just use the spare one I bought?

Your advise would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Terry

sounds like a repeat of my install...

Windshield Film

Russ,
I still have mine in the tube if you want it. I won't install it until all of this is sorted out.
Don:thumbsup

If you have this installed by someone a window tint guy would probably be better choice than a clear bra guy. The film is more rigid like window tint. It sounds like FL Chris had good luck going this way. I'm going to see if I can get Bo from Proline to contact Bony and John.

My installer had the same problem as Terry "shesgotlegs" by the way that's my first attraction to the female anatomy. The film was very stiff and would not stretch like vinal or the clear bras. One other note, my film was about one inch shorter on one side.
Don, thanks for your offer. I will wait until after Road Atanta and then make a decision on what to do. I'm leaning on going naked.
Russ :cheers

Easy fella - I'm Terry, not Terri!
:lol :lol :lol

PROLINE's install instuctions are incomplete and incorrect. Bo promised an adjustment and never followed up. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!

Thanks for the great tips Brian! I am checking their site to see if they have a kit for my Lamborghini Gallardo. With the large windshield, it seems to get more than the average amount of stuff coming up off the road hitting it, it appears slightly "sandblasted". I am going to use some products from Griot's to polish the winshield as clean as possible, then hopefully cover it with film.

:thumbsdow :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

After 3 installations of this product as well as a competitor's, I do not recommend this product.

This is primarily because it has a blur or fuzzy look through it - once its mounted. So much so that it gave me a sea sick - headachey feeling !!!
Not only that, I had 2 different passengers say the same thing - that is that it was a blurry windshield.

Yes, a tint installer is the best person suited for the install and to overcome the undersizing it is best to order their " universal sized " kit for $ 60 whereby the installer can fit it most perfectly. But then again who cares.

I have had it removed only because of the bluriness. In the meantime I have ordered an extra GT windshield for $ 800.

I wish there was a product that could overcome this phenomenon for the idea is excellent. Kelley Neely of Graphixwerk ( out of Detroit ) who is excellent with the Venture Shield automotive paint protection film product states that the problem is because of the uneveness of the adhesive.

Any updates on this product? I've had mine a year and I'm ready to have it installed. What I've gathered from all the posts I've read is to have it installed by a window tint specialist and don't give him the directions.:lol Also be ready to be disappointed and have it removed if it doesn't turn out properly.

How's it holding up under wiper blades?

Window tint people installed mine and there was very little trim work so I was told. I did not witness the install. I have removed the wipers as I don't plan on driving the car in the rain so can't report on that. There is some distortion but I'll bet most people would not notice it is installed unless you told them. I've only had it on for about 500 miles. Hope it holds up.

I've had my 'film installed for a bit over a year. So far, no pblms.

There IS a bit - a bit - of a "blurring" effect if you really concentrate and look for it. But, no one who's ridden in the car has commented on it - to me at least.

(Yes. I know... "Oh - so that means all ONE other person who's been in your car hasn't noticed it, Pockets?" :bored)

I don't care for the blurry effect either, and I haven't seen a kit on a car that didn't do it.
