The windshield defroster air direction on my 2005 GT is not working. The other air directions, A/C, and heat work as expected. Any thoughts appreciated. 40,000 miles
In general, I have had this happen on other cars. When driving, I keep switching to defrost, let it sit for 15 seconds then switch to another setting. Keep doing this, they eventually free-up.
On my GT, I just make sure I go thru all the settings each time I drive it.

Per The GT Guy, leave the temp control knob in the hot position when the system is not in use. this positions the blend door with the foam seal away for the cold position. when resting in the cold position over time, the foam will break down and adhere to the ducting and not move. Never seen the system apart or dash removed to see this in person. But this is what I do to hopefully prevent a failure and the person the info came from..
YMMV.

Too late for me but darn good advise...like allowing the odometer to register before hitting the start button and popping the rear shell on shut down (to vent heat).
Thanks for this information. I had the GT out yesterday in 80 degree weather. I put the temperature control on hot and cycled the air flow output positions from side vents to defrost numerous times. After about 20 miles of driving the defrost vent opened. However after letting it set for an hour the blend door stuck again. After 10 miles with the temp on hot it opened again. When I put the car in the garage last night I left the temp on hot and the air flow direction on defrost. I find out how it is working when this storm blows over here in Indiana today.
