Window seal problems

my passenger window seal on 1161 is delaminating. :thumbsdow So I ran over to the dealership to see about a replacement trim piece ... does anyone know if this is a recall item on early 05 cars?

dealer cost on the piece is 2180.00 :ack

Sorry. No recalls for that. How long out of warranty are you? I am guessing that you are talking about the complete window track assy ?
 
its the rubber strip that sits on the outside of the window glass. Not the front piece but the one that rolls down (glass that is).

it has a huge case of "pimples" and looks like hell.

The dealer is saying it is all one piece with the whole assembly. Which to me makes little sense. Can you image if you had your windows tinted and the installer hatched the rubber which usually is a simple 12.00 part? :ack:ack:ack (and a heart attack)

I'm still under warranty... for a few more months and trying to get all the warranty stuff done before it goes out.

If it's still under warranty as you mentioned - what's your issue? Go have th' puppy replaced. Done deal. It's a faulty seal. End of story.

For $2180, does it come with the entire door??? :confused
That sounds WAY high!
Get me a part number and I will see what price I can get.

Exactly. If you are still in warranty there should be no problem.
 
That piece is the same material/composition as at piece on the outside of 03-04 Mercury Marauders. I've detailed 37 or 38 of those, and I've seen them bubble on 1/3 of them. It probably varies on how much time in the sun the car gets. I've seen them on an FGT before, and to compare, they are the same size bubbles on the same exterior trim piece just a different shape than the Marauder's. I predict this will be a common problem... :ack

Are you talking about the seal that lays against the window? With the felt material on the glass side?
 
He's referring to the outer belt weatherstrip / molding.

Its the large hard black piece around the outside of the window I think. I remember looking it up once and about pissed myself over the price. Its got to have a piece of metal in it or something.

Did your dealer say they can't cover it under warenty?
 
they are having problems getting it approved thru the regional rep.
