Will the GTs rust?

That's the only thing I've seen posted that even sounds like it could be a rust situation.

only the steel components will rust ... calipers, bolts, fastners etc. The aluminum will corrode if left in the elements or exposed to salt water/air. Happens all the time in boats ... the aluminum will weaken and in some cases electrolsis will come into play.

But the car in a whole body and all will NOT rust.

i don't think an anode would work since they only work in water where the current has a place to go. If you grounded the car back to something in the garage you could actually get a reverse current.

Best thing to do is to get the car in a dry garage with a lot of air exchange. keep it in a bag or similar.

Kind of like storing our old carbon fiber race boat. Keep it dry, keep it warm, keep it high off the ground, and keep the idiots away from it.

Yes, suppose that if anything is inclined to rust, it'll do it in the good ol' 50th State. My cars are always garaged and see the light of day only when driven. I would never expect any rust on my Heritage and have an '89 Porsche 930 slantnose that is rust free as the day I had it delivered from their Special Wish program.

Any knowledge of protective floor mats available for the GT, just to protect the original's from scuffing, etc. Would want something attractive and not loose and floppy, to get hung up in the mechanicals whilst doing the twisty roads of Newport!

Many of us bought Lloyd's floor mats for just that purpose. But, there are others available as well.

I use the lloyds mats in my car ..... also use clear racers tape to cover the sill to prevent scuffing. You can get the tape at saferacer.com ... great guys to deal with. ok call that a selfless plug for a friend.

you can use clp (breakfree) to kill the rust on the seat track ... its also a lubricant so it will keep things moving.
