Who's considering getting a new Boss?

Who's in line to get a new Boss? Laguna Seca? Colors?

It seems dealer allocation info is coming in very slowly. Supposedly next Monday (11/8) is when the order banks open up. One week away and my dealer is unsure of what they may or may not get.

Yeah, I'd really like a LS. I wish the red graphics were different, but at least swapping the red wheels might be an easy thing to change.

I'm really considering selling my 07 GT500 and buying a new BOSS 302 in the orange that mimics the Calypso Coral 70 BOSS 302 I owned in high school. I'm lucky, I live near Galpin Ford here in SoCal and they sell more Fords than anyone in the country. Their allotment will be high, just wondering what the dealer mark up will be.

Nice Mustang. Love the engine, the exhaust, the adjustable shocks, the rear seat delete.

Hate the red graphics and really hate the red wheels. Looks cheap. And tacky. And tasteless.

But for most seats there seems to be a butt. And probably a wallet or two somewhere for these wheels too.

Apparently the order banks open on Monday, and my dealer has been awfully quiet. Doesn't bode well for me. That might make my wife a happy camper.

I found out yesterday that the Dealership I work for is getting 3 for 2012 model year. So far only the first one is spoken for. We get one in the first quarter, one in the 3rd quarter and a Laguna/Seca in the 4th quarter.

Is there a way to order a Mustang with the Iacocca tail treatment without actually purchasing the Iacocca version?

This is probably the best Mustang available, and probably one of the best of all-time, but I couldn't agree more. The Laguna Seca is a disaster and it's definitely caused some embarrassment, which I always find funny. If I was a design chief, and a really well paid one that lived in a swank city, I'd have my hands all over everything making sure nothing called a design embarrassment could be released. Especially if it's going to be high profile. They definitely should have offered a graphics delete package.

Couldn't agree more! I'm a nobody as far as car design and styling goes; Mechanically I get it and love the Laguna Seca but aesthetically it is as you said a "disaster". I'm sure others here (DBK) have much more knowledge than I on how or whom signed off on the exterior and why they ever thought this thing looked good. I'm sure it's not just approved by one guy, other people had to look at this thing didn't they? It's bizarre to me that a group of paid designers could have said "yeah what we need are more red bits scattered randomly about!". It's like beautiful super fit athlete made to wear garish clown make-up.

Looking at my beautiful 2011 ShelbyGT500 --all black with RED SVT package stripes and matching red leather inserts in the seats ,,,next to my new 2010HarleyUltraLimited in Red and Black (I know, the FGT is Midnight Blue so I am changing up my color scheme) and I am pleased with the GT500 and the Harley colors, style and cut lines etc.

I think I would have to see a fully-dressed Boss Mustang in person to decide if I will add one to the fold.
I always remember how "understated" the original Boss Mustangs were....just the nomenclature and the inverted "C" striping...I have never been in favor of colored wheels...

I saw an orange one at the Texas State Fair. The grille was even ugly. It had fake black plastic GT foglights. Nothing would have been way better. Maybe 2013 will bring a better looking package if it runs that year.

Just like the light blue with red stripes and red interior. I'm convinced the designer is color blind...good grief.

I'll say this: The Boss and Laguna Seca are Ford Racing projects, and the GT500 is an SVT project and it shows. The GT500 is really, really good looking. That track pack 2011 GT500 is just hot, no matter how you look at it. The exterior of that car was done by George Saridakis, who is the same guy that did the GR-1. Obviously, both of those things rock. I can live with the regular Boss graphics, it's just not my cup of tea. I can see there is an audience for it though.

I have no idea how that LS paint job got approved, because I've talked to people in sales and marketing that think it's a total debacle. You would think it would be integral to have the people in sales behind it. I mean, we all have eyes. How many people looked at that and said "Awesome!"? I doubt many. I think car designers and more importantly car design directors are the most myopic group of people in the car world. They are all so convinced of their superiority and understanding of design cues us plebeians don't get that periodically they send out things like the Pontiac Aztek, the Laguna Seca Paint job, and the Lincoln Bow Wave grille. They just rationalize their way into thinking it's awesome. There's a pretty good chance that if you have to explain why something is good looking and not an ugly abomination, it's you, not the audience that has it wrong...

Now I have a better understanding, especially how the new track pack GT 500 can look so good! I just couldn't understand how the LS went so far astray. I don't pretend to know the inner-workings of the motor co., SVT or Ford Racing, thanks for the enlightenment.

At first, I was wondering, wow, this car is going to be so incredibly bad a$$, why is anyone even complaining about the looks. I mean, how ugly could the graphics be?

......Then I saw the combos......

Yikes!

agreed

The Laguna Seca is a disaster

Disagree. The point of the car is "a racecar with a license plate". Here are a few others:

These cars are tarted up to stand out and cause a little shock which by the responses in the thread seems to be working. I have not seen a 1:33 viper in person but the GT3RS looks pretty cool (in person) and the LS will too (hopefully).
