Aren't backup cameras one of the new mandated features? Of course the car has to have ABS, traction control and stability control, so launch control is a software task.

Yes....The rule -- per NTHSA - would start phasing in on May 1, 2016 models and be at 100% May 1, 2018.

Was told by factory rep today that we'd have significantly more information about the vehicle within about 45 days. This is definitely happening quickly.

We've heard that one of the reasons there'd be no next gen GT was that the low nose design wouldn't meet the new pedestrian impact reg's. Seems like there must have been a way around that. BTW notice the blacked-out flush A pillars blending in with the glass. I hope that stays.
