Which blue to pick?

The big order will happen next week for my 2020 GT. Its a simple decision... blue with white stripes. My real dilemma is which blue to use? The standard blue is called "Liquid Blue" and was on the original 2017 GT when it was debuted. I've seen the color in person and I'm concerned it lacks the flash that this super car deserves. Its a bit light for me, but do I mess with it? Some colors are a natural on cars and anything different than stock looks strange. I have a 2017 Shelby Super Snake that has the stock "lighting Blue" and its a great blue. Any thoughts on painting my 2020 Ford GT Lightning Blue????

Midnight blue is NOT an option, that is gone (locked out by a forum member here).

To the OP, I would go ECP, Liquid blue is an awesome color, but A unique blue would be even better. The ENTIRE Axalta paint book is at your disposal.

It was very difficult for me to go with Liquid Blue from the standpoint that it’s one of, if not THE, most popular color on the new GT. I never like having a ”common” color, and with the ECP option on the new GT there’s no reason to have a common color.

HOWEVER — every time I went through the online GT configurator and switched from any other color to Liquid Blue I simply loved how it looked more than any other shade.

Now that I’ve had it for over a year I have no regrets. The best part of Liquid Blue is how many shades it offers, depending on the lighting conditions. It ranges from a highly-reflective, electric-like blue to a more muted, almost Wedgewood blue, depending on bright sunlight, overcast skies or indoor lighting. I also like the fact that Ford isn’t offering the color on any other vehicles. I think the designers feel Liquid Blue really compliments the GT’s lines and overall design, and they want to reserve it for the that model.

That said, there are a lot of great blues out there, and I’m fine if nobody else get Liquid Blue, simply to keep the total numbers from being even higher for that color. :D .

Has anyone done Tru Blue? I always liked that on the 2001 Bullitt Mustang.

I’ve said it before, if you are after a beautiful shade of blue with some cool vintage Ford history, I would give Guardsman Blue some consideration.

Thank you for your reply. I thought about a vintage color, especially Acapulco Blue since I have a 67’ GT500 and matching the color. I’m afraid that color would look dated on a new car. I put the color swatch of Liquid blue on the hood of the 67’ today and actually it was closer than I thought.

I have own H 0098 Liquid blue / White stripes. red calipers / shiny wheels for 2.5 years and 6000 miles. !
Knowing very well the process that the Ford Color and Trim Design Studio goes through to pick the color pallet for ALL Ford Motor Co, vehicles,
I always tend toward their selections.. They are well studied.

I went back and forth quite a while with what blue would look best. My concern with blue is that many dark blues tend to hue a lot of purple in different lights. I have an 05 in mid night blue and although I really like that color ,it does tend to have a lot of purple in many different lights. IMHO by far the best dark blue out there is Lexus Indigo Blue. It is on a lot of replica Cobras. I got a few samples from Megan but in the end did not go with it because I did not want 2 GT's in dark blue.

Don’t go with liquid blue, it’s a terrible colour and sooooo common. BTW, did you notice at Road Atlanta how there were tons of NGTs in the paddock - and not a single one of them was liquid blue?

yes … I noticed that at Road Atlanta. I actually started my trip from Michigan in a Liquid Blue 2017 FGT ….but ended it in
a Midnight Blue 2006 FGT.
