Thanks guys. Anyone know what SIZE wheels and tires they are using???

I have looked at HRE's website and have to say I like the look of the "monoblock" rims the best (mainly because I'm not keen on the polished/rolled rim look) - I wonder if HRE make any Monoblocks for the FGT??

If these guys are using the Michelin PS2 in Carrera GT spec - 335/30/20 (a tire I have to say I'm not massivley impressed with on the CGT - but you have few other options) - any idea what you guys are paying for these in the USA ?as I may look to get them in the US and get them fitted to the rims there (they are near $900 each here in Europe)

Thanks!

Dealmaker,

After speaking with HRE yesterday they said thay can do the M49 (Monoblok) for the GT. That's a few more spokes than the 3-piece shown above.

The fitment is 19 x 9 and 20 x 12 and they recommend 255/30-19 & 335/30-20 tires.

Chris - thats great thanks.

I see that Geiger (the German tuner) offer their special wheels for the GT in 9X20" Front and 11X21" rear size - that means you run with a 325/30/21 Rear tire (which is slightly taller than stock) - and this means you can use Dunlop SP tires (which several people have told me they prefer to the PS2's) - with the bonus that here in Europe they are HALF the price of the PS2's. (Which at the rate I go through rear tires is a real bonus!)

Geiger wheel/tire combo works out at $9000 though!! :ack

Be careful if you don't obey the laws of man and nature, only W speed rated!

Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RunOnFlat (Max Performance Summer)

Blackwall
BMW RunFlat
ZR Speed Rated

The second one is SW's car. He posts as streetking here.

They are HRE 893s. He is running 20s all around with the 335/30/20 PS2s out back.

No I think they are "Z" rated - the W relates to the weight rating (108W = 1080kg per corner)

In any event you would buy the non-"run flat" version of the tyre as it's supposed to have more sidewall flex.

From

W = Only 168 MPH

When Z-speed rated tires were first introduced, they were thought to reflect the highest tire speed rating that would ever be required, in excess of 240 km/h or 149 mph. While Z-speed rated tires are capable of speeds in excess of 149 mph, how far above 149 mph was not identified. That ultimately caused the automotive industry to add W- and Y-speed ratings to identify the tires that meet the needs of new vehicles that have extremely high top-speed capabilities.

W 168 mph 270 km/h Exotic Sports Cars
Y 186 mph 300 km/h Exotic Sports Cars

While a Z-speed rating still often appears in the tire size designation of these tires, such as 225/50ZR16 91W, the Z in the size signifies a maximum speed capability in excess of 149 mph, 240 km/h; the W in the service description indicates the tire's 168 mph, 270 km/h maximum speed.
