Mr. Moose and I are staying on a few days after the rally and are "shopping" for ideas on what to do, what to see, where to go in the general NC/VA vacinity. We're considering Nags Head or Virginia Beach. We've been told not to miss Monticello and Kitty Hawk. Suggestions welcome!! We'll have 4 or 5 days to play. :willy

Mooses...Be sure to do a few miles on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will be close to Mabry Mill and some other scenics for photos.
It will be very 'green' so your 'Arizona-eyes' will need a color-adjustment.

-Charlotte has the Nascar Hall of fame.
-Mount Airy is where Andy of Mayberry lived .
We can all talk more at the event and give you other ideas. I know many of our members
live in the area....

It might be a little bit of a drive, but the USS North Carolina (BB-55) battleship is in Wilmington, NC. It's an awesome tour and if you're into the Civil War there is Fort Fisher about 30 minutes drive from the battleship (along with a NC aquarium).

Kitty Hawk is awesome and there is a great nautical museum up in the Nags Head area if I remember right.

VA Beach has an aquarium, one of the best private aviation musuems I have ever been too and the USS Wisconsin. The P-51 that my GT500 is parked by in my sig was taken at the musuem. They have a large collection of WWI and WWII airplanes and almost all of them are in flying condition.

If you're heading west: Biltmore Estate, Tail of the Dragon.

Garrett and I plan to visit the Biltmore estate as well.

Update:
Mike (Mad in NC) came up with a few suggestions for us… We went from the Rally in Raleigh to Bald Head Island, then up to Beaufort where we were graciously treated to a trip on a sailboat with some friends of Mike’s. From there we drove to Duck where we spent a few days exploring the Outer Banks. We had a great post-rally vacation, got to see much of the coast of NC and met some wonderful people along the way. What a great trip!
