Well, I Received a VERY Nice Letter from Ford Performance!!

True story. A letter and a small gift!

A really classy gesture to thank me as being one of the first customer RS orders in the United States. Accompanying the letter was a small die cast model of the RS. Additionally, the letter also invites me to participate in a 1-day driving event at the former Miller Motorsports track - all on Ford's nickle. I'm thinking they want me to come up there in order to present my 2017 Ford GT allocation to me!! (Hey, I can dream!)

For those of you that don't know, there was a production start delay on the RS in order to resolve some kind of undisclosed issue(s). As of yesterday, March 4, a total of only 93 RS's have been produced for North America. Mine is one of these - and one of only 9 North America bound cars produced yesterday!!

All of the RS's are produced in Germany so now I have to wait for mine to make its way onto a boat and headed West - and hope it gets priority routing through the Panama Canal and up to the port at Oxnard, CA. Not that I'm thinking about any of this or excited or anything....

By the way, I am an idiot for not thanking the one who enabled all of this for me - our own PILOTJPW1 (Jim) who set me up with one of his allocations back in October and who has a team of people who have been stellar to work with. Being the professional that Jim is - he didn't ask for a plug or recognition (his PM was along a different topic) but I would be in the middle of nowhere without his help and support. If you are in need of a Ford vehicle, I would recommend Jim and his dealership to be among your first contacts. He's in Maryland and I'm in SoCal but with Ford's courtesy delivery program, who the heck cares!

Thanks again, Jim for hooking me up! My assumption is that you also have an outstanding relationship with your zone rep as evidenced by the ability for you to get your orders high up in the process!!

It will be there soon after delivery!! I ordered it with the optional forged wheels shod with the optional Cup2 tires. I will be buying a set of rims/tires for "everyday" driving and just starting to shop for those now!

I too am waiting for an RS!!!I have an allocation but not built yet! Would be great to pick it up in Germany and drive it to Le Mans in June , But Ford not set up for overseas delivery. Looking forward to your feedback!!

I'm waiting too. Great cars and nice to get an early one. I'm told people ordering now in the UK won't get one until 2017!

That's pretty cool that Ford is doing that... Maybe Ford will do this with the new GT purchase???

Mercedes AMG offers that with AMG purchases. Looking forward to another Laguna Seca track day with AMG at the end of the year with my AMG GTs. It would be a lot more fun in the new GT!!!
