Despite the uncooperative weather we had a great weekend at GTJoeys.

Over a dozen cars worked on by The GT Guys (Thank Rich and Denis), you guys are the best. We always look forward to seeing you. And Joey and Ellen had an overabundance of great food, as they usually do. Thank you again for opening your home to us.

Ahhhh..The Barn!

Who throws a better party then GT Joey? No one!
We are all grateful for all of the hospitality from "Elle" & Joey.

I'm happy to report that Dennis (from The GT Guys) was the one who ate the "FORD" cupcake made by my daughter Victoria. Mmmmmmm!

Can you imagine what it will be like next year with 72 hrs of sunshine?!?!?
Between the Cannolis & Cup Cakes we will all need to diet over Labor Day!

Whats up with the front splitter on the Black car? Looks like it has some fender flares that wrap around the front half of the front fenders. Have never seen this before. Kind of ZR1-ish

great party

GTJOEY,

Thank you and your beautiful wife for the kind hospitality that you afforded all of us........the rain didnt even worry us, as you kept the party going.

Thanks go out to the GT Guys, Dennis and Rich, what can we say...just a couple of the nicest people I have met...I just dont know how they do what they do with their busy schedules.

I hope everyone enjoyed the cannoli's, they were fresh and too good to pass up.

Doug, my friend and partner, thank you for being you, as only you can control that guy....you know..(lol)

Dino, Jimmy, Bill, Don, peter, howe, and the rest....thank you...you're all just a bunch of great guys.

The ride home was eventful late sat. nite, well...I needed new wheels anyway...lol

Looking to next year, as they are getting bigger and better every time.

Gino:cheers

Shelby,

DaveZ's car is pretty special in that I believe the front splitter is much larger than the stock one, originally built by Roush. The additional fender flares were custom made, sort of like the new ZR1, to create a negative air flow around the wheels to allow hot air from the brake cooling to escape......but the real fun in the front of that car is really hidden..where brake cooling has taken a whole different approach. Last month at Watkins Glenn, Dave told me that although he was trying out a new brake set up, (he was having some issues with the pads), the cooling was unbelievable.

Joey:

Neither monsoon rains nor rim-crushing potholes on the Cross Bronx expressway can diminish the good times and camaraderie of a GT Guys at The Barn event. Your attention to even the smallest detail and Ellen's outstanding hospitality make this a must-attend event for every tristate GT owner.
Thanks as well to Dennis and Rich for squeezing me into your sold-out schedule. The GT community is lucky to have individuals as talented as you to work on our cars.

Great Weekend! Great thread! Keep the comments coming.

From the look on my face in the picture of me wiping off my car for the umpteenth time, you might think that I was MAD abput the rain, and you would be right! If you saw the look on my face in the cockpit, driving home in what turned out to be a monsoon on the way home ( the closer I got to home, the harder it rained ), you would know what MAD really looks like, along with TERRIFIED! It's not so much the rain, or the poor visibility, or the terrible roads ( Where the hell does our tax money go? ), but thinking about the other person(s) in the same conditions who might not see you and your GT that scares the hell out of me. Anyway, I did make it home ok, and most of the grime washed off the next day - I'll still have to spend another day detailing to get ready for Texas.

That said, and weather not withstanding, the time I spent at Joey's was PRICELESS! Thank you so much, Joey and Ellen for your fabulous hospitality and great food. ( I am glad you talked me into staying for dinner, because the traffic really wasn't too bad at all when I left. )

Joey, you have a wonderful property to host this event, and the Barn is a great place for the GT Guys to work their magic. And work their magic they did. All the owners getting work done had this great look of part anxiety and part excitement over the work being done, and I am sure they were not disappointed in the results. I got a chance to try the pulley a little bit the other day - REALLY glad I didn't do a test drive in the rain - and the car is scary fast. Can't wait to get it on the track next time. Thanks GT GUYS - you are the BEST.

And thanks to everyone who came to the weekend, those I had met before, and new folks as well. I find that GT Owners in general are just GREAT people to spend time with. We all share the obvious pleasure and pride in our respective GT's, but I believe we all share the joy of a much deeper bond as real life-long car enthusiasts, and it is really great to share in this, whether it is telling stories; sharing experiences; giving tech hints; or just plain listening.

Thanks again Joey and Ellen for making this possible.

I know there are some other similar get-togethers held in various place around the country, but for those Forum members who don't get to participate in something like this on a local/regional level, I would urge you to give it a try. If you can find someone like Joey who can step up to the plate and serve as the focal point to make such an event happen in your area, any and all that you can get to participate will have the time of their lives.
