Any advise. Home machines vs. laundromat? What type of Soap? How do you get rid of the black wheel marks? Will static adhere to the dust particles off the car or should I use fabric softner?

It depends on what material it is made of. Details?

Might want to call the manufacturer or go to their website as different fabrics have different instructions.

For one of my covers, I found their recommendation online. Went to a commercial laundromat as it was the only one with a large enough machine. Used a mild liquid soap. I didn't use a drier as I thought the heat might damage it. I did 2 spin cycles which dried it mostly, than laid it on my driveway for a few sunny hrs. Looks great.

Are you talking about the factory FGT car cover?

Personally I didn't like the material of the one that came with the car at all and replaced it immediately. I washed the cover for my old NSX once before I sold it in the washing machine with regular clothes detergent/cold water and dried it on the lowest/delicate setting for the dryer and it came out great. Think it took two tries to dry it completely. Good Luck. :cheers

Rex,... you sound like a quality guy, you wash, now here is the question...
do you do windows?
Dependent on the answer, the next question might be a tad personal :-)

:lol Just because I did a load of laundry don't confuse me with a taller, balder version of Mr. Belvedere.

I totally agree. The factory cover isn't much protection but for display purposes it is one COOL cover. The stripes, the felt logo, and the neat window for the rear plate. I use a felt lined California car cover for day to day use.
