Warning for New Owners

4. This is a hard one. If someone challenges you to race on the street don't do it.

Aaaaaaaaaah...that heap good advice, Kimo Sabe.:thumbsup:thumbsup

Following it will likely save many folks mucho varieties of grief/unpleasantness.

...and they WORKED. :tongue :slap

I will never forget a Ford rep telling me the record for a Ford GT. It went from the dealership to totalled in 7 miles.

I had my basic training with an SVT Terminator. Here is some of what I learned.

1. Never go into boost with the steering off center.
2. Look well ahead of your vehicle. Once you punch it you will be on that spot in seconds.
3. Cold weather adds 100HP and traction goes to crap.
4. This is a hard one. If someone challenges you to race on the street don't do it. I have gone full on on the street a few times, but no longer than a couple of seconds. Every year I do it less.

Great advise, thanks.:thumbsup

Very sad. Good advice from everyone.

I found this article on the accident. It seems he was turning around and was hit by another vehicle. His FGT caught fire.

Wow, so those that wanted to cast dispersions and assume he was street racing were wrong? You can drive like a granny and still get tee-boned.

Man this is depressing new.... My prayers go out to both families for such a terrible lost..

When your life flashes before your eyes, make sure you've got plenty to watch.

Horrible news about such a cool car guy.

RIP Alex and a prayer for his family and friends.

We all make mistakes. Whats ironic is that alot of the big risk takers usually die from the most simple situations. We all press our luck from time to time. If you do not take a chance to enjoy life, is it even worth living? Alex will be missed. He died a tragic death, but from the looks of it he did not suffer long, if any. He died in his beloved car. I am sure he is in Heaven now tearing up the white streets with a GT 1,000,000! RIP ALEX!

We all can only hope to be so lucky...

Another suttle safety reminder is in that news story. It says the time was 3:20AM, Sunday.

I have four young adults (2 boys 2 girls) ages 18-25 and one of the house rules that I would not budge on was them being in a car (driver or passenger) past 12:00am while in high school. Not that I want them in a car after that now, but they are no longer under my roof and I have to let go. Needless to say their mom and I got some calls to go play taxi, but we were happy to do so.

The odds for accidents go up exponentially once the clock passes midnight. And being sober behind the wheel often does not matter.

Seems that Wax (one of the moderators) has done just that now. I really can't understand blaming the news on the messenger, and ignoring the message altogether. I am glad to be a small part in the GT forum, which is obvious it really is something special here like few other sites manage to obtain. Still, I love fchat too, as some of that exists in and around it too. Accident's happen, and sometimes it just hits too close to home.

Last year, a friend's sister was on the phone with her mother when the phone went dead. Their mother and father were visiting Mt. Pleasant when they were T-Boned on a rural road after dark. They both died that night when somebody never saw the stop sign. Life is fragile in any car.
