I suppose I'm more of a target when on my motorcycle (of course it has more HP than my Smartcar).

I am curious that you said top speed is 90? I thought it was limited to 80-85. I tried to find out today. Hit 80 but had to back off....the bugs I was hitting seemed to be slowing down the car. :rofl ...never found top end...:frown

my boats get anywhere from 1-3 mpg depending on how fast i am driving :biggrin that said my motorcycles get exceptional gas mileage for me :cheers

Generally, the less MPG a vehicle gets the more fun it tends to be! Now I don't understand why when it comes to energy policy the Democrats push only conservation (demand control), instead of also talking about increasing the supply. In essence the Demo are telling the American people to have less fun in their lives and to smile about it. IMHO driving an econo box to work, shivering in the cold during the winter, and sweating like a pig during the summer, isn't an attractive future.

At least we can all agree it will be a CHANGE. However a CHANGE that I don't HOPE for! Obama is 1/2 right.

On a slightly more serious note. One the techs I work with has stuffed a prius drive train in a Beck 550 replica. It is suppose to be very cool. I have yet to see it in person but ... at least is an green ride with some style.

I agree with the DEMO conservation angle ...being 1/2 baked that is. Elec cars are in our future ... somewhere.

Test drove this car (extensively) 2 years ago when it was being promoted to sell at Penske's United Auto Group, the lag time between shifts was just too long, I mean you can eat a sandwich waiting for the thing to shift, and its got paddle shifting:rofl, maybe they've changed it since then. I wish they made for sale the Brabus (Benz after market tuner) edition engine in the USA.

A Honda Civic holds 4 people comfortably - 5 not so comfy...'has a spacious trunk with wunna those "pass thru" rear seat backs...gets 30/40 EPA...and costs $17K.

Given the cash outlay between the "stickers" of the three cars ("Smart", Prius, Civic) vs. their fuel milage, etc., I'd say the Civic is the 'more gooder' choice $$$ wise all things considered.

But, mebbe that's just me...

What I want to know is where is all this additional electric going to come from? The Dem’s won’t allow any more power plants (nuclear, coal, hydro). It’ll be like the old Green Acres TV series…..can’t make toast while the TV is on, can’t recharge the car while the dryer is running……sheeesh

We cannot conserve our way into prosperity.

Algore wants us to convert to an alternative energy source in 10 years? We haven’t even identified one that will work efficiently on a large scale.

The reason we use oil, coal etc is because they are relatively cheap energy sources.

This is nuts, we have plenty of natural resources in this country…….lets use them.

Other energy sources will come along in time. Lets use what we have (and what has been working very well for 100 years) until then.
