Waking and charging my 19 GT with the new Tender?

What is the number of the 7 amp Ctek charger and where can it be purchased at a reasonable price? My 2017 Ctek charger shows to be. 4.3 amp charger.

I dont have it at the moment, but I will post it when I return to work in the morning.

Thank youI Joe!

I have the newer high amperage tender but it won’t wake up The battery. I also have a high amperage Conventional charger, but Wasn’t sure it is safe to use with a lithium ion battery - is it Safe to use a conventional charger with it?

Frank
My GT was delivered today. Bernardo Martinez, my Delivery Specialist, told me that I should never use anything other than a Lithium-ion battery charger on my GT; i.e., do not use a conventional charger.

Was he referring to maintaining the battery or wakeing up a battery when it's in sleep/ pertection mode ?

I understood that Bernardo's comments, about always using a lithium-ion charger/maintainer, were made in reference to both waking the battery and to maintaining the battery.

I have absolutely no idea what the differences are between a "regular" charger and a lithium-ion specific charger, but it would seem to me that this all comes down to how many volts and how many amps get pushed to the battery over a specific time frame.

Not to go off-topic, but Bernie was first-class all the way! He was as patient as could be with both me and my daughter. And, talk about knowledgeable20200203_124124.jpg! Wow!

If you have the 7 amp charger I would agree, however in the case of those who do not, its acceptable to use a normal charger to wake up a battery, I would not advise anyone to use a standard charger to maintain a lithium ion battery.

First off- thank you Italian Joe for your patience & accurate information! My 2018 GT was OFF it’s 5 Amp charger for 8 days with window down & hood unlatched. When reconnected for an hour or so it still had no power level lights. Dug out this thread. Removed 5 A charger. Hooked up conventional charger set at 30 Amps. Turned it ON. Headlights IMMEDIATELY blinked. Woke up lithium ion battery! Yahoo! Disconnected conventional charger. Put 5 A factory trickle back on- 2 power level lights ON. 3 hours later removed 5 A charger. Hit the Red button. And Ohhh- that sound!! She fired right up! Thanks, Joe! Preciate ya!!

Some LIon batteries are designed to protect themselves from discharging too far, e.g., the battery in your phone is like this. I know some car batteries are similarly designed. However, it’s worth asking if the battery in the NFGT has that feature. If not, then deeply discharging it and letting it stay in a depleted state can cause irreversible damage, necessitating the replacement of the battery and disassembly of the front of the car.
Does anyone know whether the NFGT battery “saves itself”?

Yes.

At my NGT delivery Steve recommend no more than three days without the charger.

I checked the charger that came with my NGT and it has 7 amp output.
