My transmission has a rattle in neutral,is that normal with a Ricardo trans?.

Yes. Lots of very early posts on this back when the cars were new.

Should / does it need repair?

No, it's normal with the clutch out. Quieter with the clutch in. It is even mentioned in the owner's manual.

Thank goodness, maby I can get some sleep tonight.Thank's for the reply.

In two years, two people commented on my car's transmission rattle. My response? "Obviously, you have never heard a racing transaxle."

It's called "neutral gear rollover". Completely normal. Nothing compared to neutral and low rpms in a Carrrera GT. You'd think something was really busted back there in the transaxle.

Not normal! Tell your wife you need another GT so you can compare!

I like the way you think Roketman!!

Although different than the neutral gear rollover, these cars have a fair amount of rattle in the clutch when disengaged because of the multi-plates. My '08 GT500, which also has a multi-plate clutch, sounds like a dry clutch Ducati.

Rattle snake sound also in lower RPMs inside cabin

Beats glass clutch of 90s Lambos

Noticed this noise the other day for the first time, It was a bit concerning so i'm glad to see its normal.

One other thing though, I am now getting comfortable with the car to the point where 725bhp feels normal, when I drove my 430bhp TVR the other day I thought it had a misfire and was running badly, no its just very slow, it boggles the mind that the GT can do what it does, with such ease. :)

For sale - Orange TVR Sagaris 2006, lol
