My understanding is that the news is to be released DURING the Rally.

+ 2

(Or very slightly B4)

(And if there izzunt one - my Accufabs are goin' in!)

I certainly hope there is a cure for this. I have a little thing puncturing my sides every time I drive my gt. It's not painful -- just chronic.

So lets see what happens in the next few days--
Either way we are driving one of the greatest sport cars in the world -- We will deal with it.

We miss you at the Rally, Manny. Lot's of old friends asking about you. Bummer you couldn't make it.

Thanks,
It sure is a bummer.

Enjoy!

We're having a technical Q&A tonight at 7pm. I'm sure something about halfshafts will come up. :lol :wink

yup, of course it might! :)

Doesn't anyone miss me? :biggrin

HECK YA!!!!!! ...With every bullet so ferr... :lol

(Sorry, Mark. 'Jus' HAD to!)

Fix came up at the tech Q & A tonight. Per Jamal, Ford believes they have the problem narrowed to a bad supply of bolts not properly treated from their supplier. They have redesigned the washers and spec'd a new bolt. They have ordered the new fix parts.

Expect communication directly from Ford this fall on specifically what action will/needs to be taken.

In my mind this is good news that Ford has duplicated the problem and identified a fix. I personally have no doubt what-so-ever that Ford will do the right thing once the parts are in hand. I will be watching my mailbox this fall for details.

Thanks Ford for the great car. And thanks Jamal for standing up in front of a crowd tonight, taking ownership of the issue, and explaining the problem and the fix. :thumbsup

Did anyone bring up the Accufab kit vs. this new Ford bolt kit as far as which is/will be superior, Chris?

What were some of the other main tech issues that arose at the Q&A?

Thanks so much for the update on the bolts, Chris.

Good question, EP! I am wondering if this is a Ford Upgrade Kit, version 2.0, or the same kit that some of us have pre-emptively installed (and some, not so pre-emptively)...

Ya, I be thinkin' it'll be 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other, Syco.

Someone suggested here on The 'Forum a while back that an updated kit like Accufabs would be Ford's solution (don't recall who).

'Looks like he was right ...whomever "he" was!:thumbsup

As you can understand the Accufab bolts came up. They have not been tested and I wouldn't expect them to. Ford will supply a fix to the problem that they certify.

They have tested their fix and and can replicate the problem in the lab. I believe that the accufab fix uses the same washer and it sounded like this new fix will have an even thicker washer as well as new bolts.

I have the greatest respect for Jamal and his willingness to stand up and explain the problem. Ford has gone outside normal channels to get us the information and make us as owners happy. I for one am happy with the response.

Agreed ... but, it'd still be interesting to compare the specs between the two kits just for "ha-ha's".

Mod's Note
=======
Just like Ford not commenting on Chevrolet's products, don't expect comments on ACCUFAB's from Ford.
You will be free to go to an independent lab and post the results. This is a serious matter for some, and I wish to
maintain a serious tenor on this thread. Thank you very much.

Jamal took a beating tonight in my opinion. He handled it very well.

Bottom line, there has been no Accufab failure. They aren't going to test Accufabs kit.

Per his comments there will be a Ford fix by the end of Fall.

The car is one of the greatest cars ever created by man, built by man. To be human is to error.

Again, the Ford fix is on its way...as fast as they can get it approved through corporate measures.

What were some of the other main tech issues that arose at the Q&A?...

There were really no other issues that were experienced by more than two or three in the room. Some questions regarding transmission shifts from 1-2 when cold (normal), transmission service manual availability (not yet) and a question or two by some on A/C blower noise. All in all, there are clearly no significant issues with the cars. Ford built us a good one guys.

Bottom line, find yourself a good Ford dealer that knows the car and is willing to work on it. Develop that relationship. Take your GT to that dealer when you have warranty issues (they are all still under warranty after all). Use the forum if need be to help you find the right dealer.

Jamal is a class act in my book. Clearly a really smart guy and knows the cars very well. The biggest responses from the group where rounds of applause for him and his team.

Ford top management and we stockholders where proudly represented by Jamal and the Ford team.
