Transaxle Fill/Drain/Filter Copper Washers

Anyone know a source for these copper washers? The Ford guys say they only come with the plugs/filter assembly (from $40 or so for the plugs to $240 for the filter assembly) according to the parts book. If this is wrong, could someone please post the part numbers.

Also, the transmission filter washer has a flat side and a raised ring side (for compression seal, I assume). Which side of the washer contacts the transmission housing and whichside the plug? From the look of the "stain" left on the transmission housing, it appears the raised ring side may contact here...but I certainly could be wrong. When removing, The ring slid off as I tipped the filter to avoid particles dropping, and I did not see which side of the gasket went where.

Confirm torque settings of 20 ft.-lbs. for each of the drain, fill and filter plugs? Or, if different recommendations would someone please post?

Added:

Also, the plugs came from the factory with a thread sealant. Does anyone know what kind (it appeared to be flexible silicone like material). Will high pressure PTFE pipe thread compound also work?

Thanks!

The raised ring may just copper washer being extruded into the hole of the transaxle case when the washer is crushed during tightening. I found this to be the case with the washer on a BMW oil drain plug. You should be able to get copper washers from any auto supply shop, just get the right size. I got some from

Thanks for the quick reply. However, the raised ring on the one side of the filter washer was larger in diameter than the hole. I will check with my local auto parts guys to see what they have. Thanks for the link, also.

Transmission filter, fill and drain plug pictures and location

This is the first I heard of a transmission filter, where is it located and is it serviceable?

It is the 1 1/4 inch hex plug at the lower drivers side of the rear housing of the transmission. The 24 mm fill plug is located above it and slightly to the rear of the housing. The 22 mm drain plug is on the passenger side of the rear transaxle housing, slightly off the bottom of the housing.
