Can anyone offer advise for purchasing a trailer that I will be using to transport my GT to Rally 12? I will be towing with a 2017 Toyota Tundra 5.7L. I'm not looking to spend a bunch of money as it won't be used much, but any advice would be a great help.

Thanks

Dave

I gave mine away 2 years ago.. but in general, the trailers with aluminum sides and roof, but with steel frames and tongues are reasonable.
I found the full aluminum trailers too pricey. $25,000.00 US
I would stay away from leaf springs (old tech) and use Dexter Axles with torsion rubber springs.

I could write many paragraphs on my 'trailering days'... but I recall many ''Trailer Threads'' here on the forum if you search.
Mine was a 22 foot. Fully equipped under $12,000 US>
see you there!!

I've had a steel frame 24' enclosed, since the mid 90's. Paid 6k for it. It's not glamorous, but man it has a lot of miles on it. It's been fantastic. Just since 2014 it's logged 7500 miles with a Raptor (the dash keeps track when trailer is connected).

eBay is not a good place to look. This site has much more to look at. When you get a used trailer, have bearings and brakes serviced before use.

There are long threads here about trailers for the GT. Get large left hand door for easy access from car. Search here can help.

Thanks for the helpful feedback. I found some great threads and have a few ideas what to look for. Appreciate the help.

2 more thoughts, make sure you have a winch, your clutch, and nerves will appreciate it.

Also look (or add it) front to back e track, makes going over the wheel a lot easier. This rolling idler clips right in.

Dave,

I am also in Calgary . I have a Alcom High country all aluminum 24' trailer with torsion bars , it cost around $12k CDN. I added E track from Princess auto and a 12,000 lb winch. I highly reccomend an anti sway hitch with weight distribution. I have pulled this trailer cross country with zero issues.

All Aluminum never rusts, and saves a lot of weight.

You are welcome to come and look at mine.

Lots of good advise here on the forum about trailer purchasing however don't forget a very important option- a power winch. unless you are really small or have a perfectly placed side door, getting in and out of a GT in an enclosed trailer can be somewhat of an issue. and also make sure you have the tow hook in your storage area or already installed in the front frame. just a suggestion. even with my wide box trailer, I still can't get in and out of the car. I always just winch it in and out. jmo

speaking of tow rigs - don't miss out on Raptor Assault this summer.
