Going to Autobahn a week from Friday for some "spirited" driving and noticed my two front tires are really lean. Trying to buy two new Goodyears from Tire Rack (amongst others) to no avail. They do have 2 Bridgestone Potenza's in same size at $236/tire, but I'm wondering, should I replace all 4? Back tread is still more than ample, and apparently, Goodyear's are nowhere to be found. Car has just under 5 M miles total, rear tread looks great, fronts nearly slicks. Do I replace only two or go with a whole set of Potenzas?
Any input greatly appreciated.

I noticed that also, Tire Rack and Discount Tire both quit carrying the Goodyears we need. What gives?

I just ordered these:

265/40ZR18 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A N1 (Porsche) IN STOCK 2 $294.00 $588.00
345/35ZR19 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia IN STOCK 2 $335.00 $670.00

It's a bit unusual to have worn out front tires and the rears still in good shape. I would recommend having your alignment checked before hitting the track.

I have several customers that have switched over to the Bridgestone's and they all love them. Personally I would replace all four especially if you're switching to a different brand of tire.

I've been working on compiling a list of tires people use on the GT.

You dog, Fubar, you just took the last two Porsche N0 RE050A :wink. Good thing the N1's are available - albeit at a slightly higher cost!

You guys missed the obvious. DJS has just under "5M" miles. He's probably kept Goodyear afloat on his own.

I've got a pair of like new fronts for sale if anyone is interested. Sorry for the off topic.

My guess is that they haven't been selling. I just received rear tires from the Tire Rack on sale!! Now that I have them I see from the build date that they are already 4 years old !!! :bored :thumbsdowIf you've seen the latest studies tires should be replaced every 6 years no matter what !! Lesson learned....always check the build date BEFORE you buy !! :eek

No problem for either Jeff or myself - at 10k miles per set of rears, I go through two sets each year!

The car was meant to be Driven!

Honestly there is NO reason that you should need new fronts after 5k miles unless you have an alignment issue or the car has been tracked a bunch already.....

Not trying to tell you what you need, just looking out for you as it seems odd that you would need fronts at 5k miles.

Gee, does that mean I need to replace the 27 year old Goodyear Eagles on my E-Type?:eek

As I remember my '66 E-Type did about 150 mph. Yeah, I'd probably replace them with something if you were going to REALLY drive it!!! :thumbsup

Do we know if Goodyear has stopped production or if the Tire Rack and discount outlets no longer stock them?
