Years later the Panteras were sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealerships
Correct ... to entice people into L-M showrooms where the salesman quickly tried to switch them to a "more practical" Lincoln Mark III. You could say the Pantera was one of the first Halo Cars.

I didn't take the Mark III bait and still have my Pre-L Silver Pantera purchased in '72. It was my daily driver for many years, including winters in Boston. It was quite an adventure to drive in the snow with those wide rear tires.

I got my '73 in 1986 after I survived my first USS Enterprise cruise.
