Thank you for letting me attend your rally

Hi everyone. My name is Rich Truesdell and I attended your rally yesterday as Dennis Keck's navigator. Dennis can probably tell you a story or two about me and some of my Ford GT adventures, especially as a Contributing Editor to Sports Car International, Winding Road, Octane (UK), and Supercar (Romania). As someone who has put over 5,000 miles on various Ford GT press cars, I was really glad to see owners out actually driving their cars and letting others share in your good fortune in owning one of the finest cars on the planet.

I took some photos yesterday of the rally for some event coverage I'm planning to run in my new online-only magazine Automotive Traveler. We have a deadline coming up in about a week and I wanted to see if anyone here is interested in contributing about 400 words on yesterday's event and help in captioning the photos I've just posted at:

http://imageevent.com/mmm_mag/fordgtrally

In addition to the photos of yesterday's rally, I've also uploaded PDFs of some of my Ford GT-related articles, including several on the GTX1. I've also uploaded some of the Ford GT and GT40 images I've shot over the last three years.

I've also uploaded some very large PDFs of issues one and two of Automotive Traveler but I certainly would like to invite you to take a look at the interactive versions of both issues available at:

http://automotivetraveler.com/magazine.php?mode=1
(E-mail registration required so we can let you know when the next issue is published, which will have coverage of yesterday's rally.)

If you like my Ford GT photography, and would like your Ford GT shot on location or in a studio setting, as I did with Denni Keck's Ford GT and the GTX1, please drop me a note at [email protected]. I am shooting in a studio in Fullerton on Tuesday so if you've thought about having your car shot in a studio, this would be a way to accomplish that goal and not have to cover the cost of a full day's studio rental; I can shoot a car in about three hours.

Thank you Bruce for hosting lunch, it was fun to talk with some of the owners and share some of my own Ford GT experiences.

Best wishes to you all,

Richard Truesdell

Richard, Great pictures! Look forward to the great article and with the passion you have demostrated for the Ford GT (old and now new) you need to be at Newport Beach in August for Rally II (Aug 1-5).

First beer or G&T is on me :cheers

I hope to participate in the rally. Problem is that I think it's the same time frame as Hot August Nights in Reno and then I will probably head right to Europe for the month.

Glad you liked the photos.

You're correct. Hot Aug Nights is Aug 3 - 12 this year. :frown :thumbsdow

Richard, registration for Hot August Nights doesn't actually start until Monday August 6 (at the Hyatt) - so technically you should be able to attend some of the Newport Beach happenings before heading to Reno. I'll be at Reno also with my 70 BOSS 302 as cars newer than '75 are not allowed into the party.

Where do you live? If in SoCal, maybe we can caravan and drive up together. I will take either my 1964 Rambler American Convertible or my 1969 Rambler SC/Rambler station wagon phantom. If you E-mail me at richt@automotivetraveler, we can take this off list and exchange contact info. I also write for Mustang Enthusiast and Musclecar Enthusiast so maybe we can get your Boss some magazine exposure. E-mail me some pix of your car.

Nice meeting you Richard and some great links. I look forward to reading some of your work.:thumbsup

Steve,

Is that a Charger I see in the background of your profile photo? Tell me more.

Thanks,

Larry, the "unofficial" party starts Friday night August 3 but registration and the "official" party starts on Monday August 6 and goes through August 12. Thousands will be in Reno on Saturday August 4 to set up camp.

Richard,

That pic is of my Dads and his partners original GT40 #P1060 and my Dads 68' 440 six pac. in the background. I was born with an abnormally larged motor gene.:lol Even gramps had to get a new Cady every year due to the HP wars of the 50's and 60's.

I am just finishing up the event coverage on the June 16th Ford GT Rally and need a little help in filling in a few blanks to properly attribute the story and to caption the images.

First, what are the names of the two GTX-1 owners who participated in the event? I have good shots of both cars and would like to mention both in the article.

Second, what was the name of the host of the lunch? I would like to mention him as well.

Third, what is the actual name of the organizer of the August event. I'd like to include a link.

If you can answer any of these questions please E-mail me direct at [email protected] and look for issue three shortly at www.automotivetraveler.com.

Best wishes,

Richard Truesdell
