For the 1st time in my (long) life, I voted democrat today - for the sole purpose of offsetting one vote for Hillary. :cheers

Kirby, spoken like the true Gentleman you are.

I'm a firm believer there should be a box for "none of the above".

How about a box for "has not sold soul to be on this sheet of paper" ?

Just heard on MSNBC that in a poll that Hillary Clinton would be the "best commander and Chief " . :ack:ack:ack:ack:ack:ack

I think I need to change my avatar tag to "Future Expat Gt Owner".

Locally, voters had to declare on their ballots whether they were Dems or GOP - or their votes would be "tossed".

While I understand the desire to prevent the "crossover votes" blah blah blah, there is/was NO provision on these ballots for us INDEPENDENTS - so, for the 1st time since serving in Uncle Sam's canoe club in 'Nam - I said pppppppphtt and didn't vote at all.

Here's what we had to sign:
"I declare that I consider myself to be a (demo/gop) and I will not participate in the (nom/ caucus/convention) of any other party."

'Heck with it. :thumbsdow

There is a bit of debate going on about other states "OPEN" primaries as well Pockets ... happened here also. Think there is a legal issue about declaring a vote outside of the booth that really needs to be looked at here. IMHO.

the way I see it..

McCain is a 10 years ago Democrat, where most of today's Democrats are 50 years ago's Socialists.... Where originally I supported Fred, I voted for Romney, and support him today... what happens to the Auto industry ... things getting far worse in the next 4, 8, 12 years.... particularly the domestic industry that has driven the rest of the country's success for 100 years.

:-\

The real issue however is that Obama will win, more than likely he will win the White House and we have someone who has no idea how to run the United States in the world we live in. Obama is sort of a 'Liberal Communist'. If you make much money , consider it soon to be gone.
AJB

True - Romney is our only hope, but it does not look good for him.. He got our votes here in Michigan.
AJB

If you think about it, Andy, McCain pbly has the best chance of beating EITHER Billary or Obamanation for (unfortunately) the very reason mentioned above - he's a "10 yrs ago" Demo.

Personally, push come to shove, I'd rather see McCain appointing Supremes than EITHER Billary or B.O. 'Cause you can rest assurred EITHER wunna them will nominate Ruth BADer Ginsbergs ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!!!! :ack :ack :ack

I say again - baggage and all - I still wish Newt had run.

Agreed - If not Romney, all 3 of us here in Michigan will vote for McCain who will more than likely be the Republican person. (maybe we could start a 'draft Newt' lobby)
I just cannot even envision this country with "Baby Obama" or 'Weird Hillary' living in the White House.

I should have changed my name to" Noneof The Above" and got on the ballot. I'd be president!

i voted for McCain today

Ditto.

Having recently retired, no kids and my finances are fairly safe, I sleep well at night. However if Obama wins I fell sad for the movers and shakers of future generations (your children). If he gets his way he will tax/punish away every reason for a potential entrepreneur to take on risk. Let's see where we go as an economy when there is no longer a benefit to laying it (financially) all on the line. It seems many like Obama will be happy when McDonalds pays 35 per hour at the fry machine and running a business with 100 plus employes and everything you own locked up in a personal guarantees nets 45 per hour. YOU CANNOT TAX PROSPERITY AWAY FROM ONE TO CREATE IT FOR ANOTHER. IT HAS TO BE WORKED FOR AND EARNED!:bang
Being 50, I feel in 20 years I will no longer even recognize this country. Far left Democrats preach tolerance and acceptance in their platform but since the '68 election their number one message has been class envy and disdain for hard working successful people in general and white males in particular.

Damn this pisses me off!:mad

+1

But, ya know Steve, you really need to more clearly define your position relative to this and other issues!

Is Huckabee going to be a spoiler or is he actually going to be a viable candidate? He's pulling the south and stronger in a few other states than expected. Could he actually pull enough delegates for McCain to pick him up as a VP if McCain pulls enough together.

Romney shot himself in the foot with the press release out of West Virginia. IMHO.

What do you guys think?

Huck hasn't got a prayer of winning the nomination (no pun intended). There's just no way. Don't see him as VP either for the same reasons. The rant from the left would CONSTANTLY be something along the lines of, "the GOP has a holy roller on the ticket for the Whitehouse", and all that goes with that.

Naaaaah... 'ain't happenin' in this lifetime.

(I can envision Duncan Hunter as VP, 'cause McCain's gunna NEED someone like that to pacify the REAL conservatives.)

Help me out here.... shorter is better.... remember.... I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed..

I'm a 35 year old white male. I'm married with 1 child... I own a business and work for others (the stunt thing). I have a six figure income and am trying really hard to break into the next figure bracket... My wife (bless her) is a stay at home mom and doesn't contribute financially.... Who do I want and why?

Oh... I've always considered myself a republican
OK, be gentle and simplify..

thanks

yeah I hear you Pockets but the "Hang the out of business sign on the IRS" pulls voters to the polls. Especially in this economy.

It is interesting .... strange .... but interesting.

Also on the holy roller point ... he's pulled Hill and Barrie out of the religious closet in the last month or so ....

Like I said ... Strange and interesting.
