Subwoofer enclosure with a "Weave"

Now let me begin by sharing that the original subwoofer enclosure that I designed was what I commonly refer to as a fully functioning mock-up. It was completed, trimmed, installed, and working. Having shared this when compared to the 20 subsequent subwoofer enclosures that Ash fabricated it was dimensionally the same however as I have explained to a couple other Forum Members the method used to fabricate the last 20 and the exterior styling particularly at the end caps was vastly improved. This design change was already decided upon long before any were sold with the intention of simply fabricating me a final when compared to original mock-up piece.

Well because of the intense interest and my desire and Ash’s willingness to help mine then sat at bay until those requested by others were completed and shipped. Once this was accomplished and Ash had a few days to relax my final subwoofer enclosure was fabricated.

So that I do not mislead anyone; I share these pictures so as to offer ideas for others however Ash has made it very clear that he will not even consider fabricating future enclosures with these personal touches on them. It was as he said tonight; the labor required to complete the detail work with the carbon fiber that I requested of him took so much time that the enclosure would easily exceed the $XXXX mark. This was done as a labor of love and because of the various projects we work together on; nothing more.

Having shared this I truly hope that you like the pictures. I share them because of the obvious interest in carbon fiber, the truly awesome job that Ash completed for me personally and for the 20 other active Forum Members he shipped subwoofer enclosures to thus helping to create a “Mac Free Zone” as well as the wonderful job forum member “STORMCAT” has done presenting a carbon fiber alternative center console/bulkhead trim panel which I see is now able to be ordered through this site.

The Carbon Fiber panel is the perfect accent.

Shadowman -
The Carbon Fiber panel is the perfect accent for the stock Non-Mac consol. Would anyone consider making the CF consol panels available for those of us who have already purchased the factory Non-Mac consols for the sub-enclosure retrofit? Ash, Shadowman, Stormcat, .......Beuller, anyone???

I'm also waiting on the connectors to get on with the project. Thanks for everyone's comments along the way as you worked through the retrofit.

Merry Christmas to all.

The Carbon Fiber Console I have will come with a Carbon Fiber cover. I should have some photos shortly. That's a beautiful wrap job on the factory cover. For the record the cover we have is 1 1/2" higher and gives you a little more hidden pouch space.
Nice looking completed project! It needs just a little more CF behind it to get the full race car effect and match the back of the seats..

This is Forum is truly a wonderful place to come and hang out once in a while.

Yes I stay up too late and then sadly am up too early as well. It seems as those during those hours my personal gals are tended too.

I just chatted with Ash and he appreciates the fact that everyone enjoys what he did for them as well as me. There was a reluctance to show my completed enclosure for concern of opening Pandora’s box again and yet I wanted all to see his attention to detail.

The carbon fiber end caps are a subtle detail that once in place will be rarely noticed and yet the carbon fiber will tie in with the seat backs. As for the center console carbon fiber panel; this was a complete afterthought. When the non-Mac replacement piece arrived from Ford there was a small scratch in this panel to which I simply contacted the dealer expecting the warranty/swapping process to be painless. To my surprise this was not to be the case as such I decided to consider alternatives which resulted in the process as seen. The OEM panel was in fact wrapped with carbon fiber as "STORMCAT" indicates which as he knows is not as simple as laying it on and calling it a day. This process is typical of most secondary automotive trim pieces that are sold and allows for the use of the OEM fasterners and installation procedures. I like the resulting tasteful contrast which is why I shared that Stormcat’s piece (IMO) would look even more stunning with a leather trimmed panel; the reverse of this setup and yet not produce a visual bull’s-eye; regardless the carbon fiber piece that "STORMCAT" and his team produced is stunning and from personal experience producing molds/pieces was not an easy piece to produce do. A huge "Thumbs Up" "STORMCAT" for bringing a truly first class option to the Forum Members.

Yes; I have all of the original pieces neatly wrapped and put away in a box so that sometime in the future this gal can be converted back to “visible Mac” however will this ever happen; not on my watch.

In closing I have chatted with many that received their subwoofer enclosures and want to reiterate that during the conversion process I will gladly remain available to answer any questions so as to keep the process easy and enjoyable. PM, email, or call me because to a person I want you to enjoy the refreshing looks and the improved sound quality of your system.

Takes care

"STORMCAT" your comments mean a lot to me and even more to Ash as it was him that I was able to delegate to work to. I put in the time but he put in all the effort. I have several folks that work for me and the word used around the facility all the time is "anal" to which I follow with the words "I/we care".

In this world of some many colors gray is the one I see all too often which for me is defined as a mismatch of thoughts, ideas, goals, and dreams with sadly very few ever being fully defined. Certainly I spent some time with this color however it is only as I pass through because I tend to be very black or white, right or wrong, fulfilled or in the process of, the dream or the nightmare.

All industries have there quirks and yet the automotive industry that relies so heavily on passion blows like the wind and when one finds someone that truly cares and willing to complete one’s dream rather than simply the process I suggest that you hold on tight and do not let this person or firm slip away because you can rest assured in knowing that there are “very” few. However there are a endless array of mouth pieces aka “PT Barnum’s” out there waiting or I should say hoping never to be discovered.

I share this because this Forum has a great group of members and visitors, a wonderful Vendor base which is exactly what is needed to survive the test of time.

All the best
