Hello All,

I am trying to plan a trip with the family... combined with a little racing... to the Los Angeles area in the next couple of weeks... we are planning on doing the rv thing on the way there... pick up a couple of cars with my stacker... and do the rv thing home... having never done the SoCal thing I was hoping for some advice on where to park the rig while there?? or a rv resort with big enough spots to park??

any recommendations? we will want to stay in the LA / Laguna Beach area for about a week...

thanks in advance...

:cheers

can I go???? :)

It's going to be slim pickens this time of year ANYWHERE coastal in socal, However, for South Orange County, (Laguna area), start with Doheny State Park in Dana Point---> then work your way South to San Clemente State Park--->San Onofre State Park etc. Good luck... (I would invite you but your rig would take up half the block :lol)

If you were or know someone that is a Marine, you could pull in a favor at Camp Pendleton.

Here is a link; http://www.usmc-mccs.org/fitnessrec/outdoor/camping.cfm

Another is the Ventura County area at the Pt. Mugu Naval Base; http://www.militarycampgrounds.us/c...alifornia/60-point-mugu-recreation-facilities

or in San Diego at Pt. Loma - http://www.mwrtoday.com/Sandiego/marinas.htm

Lastly, check with AAA for campgrounds just north of Santa Barbara, starting with El Capitan and ending on the 101 just before the Hwy turns inland at Gaviota State Beach.

If you are are stopping in near Lake Havasu, check out the Islander Rv Resort on the Island. Ask for Ann Quigle, tell her I sent you.

Worst case, there are many Indian Casinos around the Palm Springs and San Diego County areas with more than ample RV parking along with 24 hour security.

If you need any local help, PM me and Good Luck

Sam

P.S. If you own a BMW, you are on your own... Kidding...
Good Luck

Don't forget Bolsa Chica State Beach in Huntington Beach. Many Beach cities close by for shopping and such. Surfing. Beach bonfires allowed. Lots of RV parking too. And a fantastic beach.

Max Camper lenght is 40'......If you need to leave your stacker somewhere in the meantime you can drop it off at my gated shop.....it's only a few miles away from the beach.

Awesome picture Chris! Did you take that??

Off course..........not

In the Inland Empire (Pomona Valley, Walnut Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Bonelli Regional Park is somewhat centrally located - includes Puddingstone Reservoir (and Raging Waters for kids). It's quite close to the LA County Fairgrounds and the Pomona "Winternationals" Drag Strip. The East Shore RV park there is quite pleasant. Here's a link:

First of all, there ARE other people in this pic (trust me!).

So, take a look at the grey headed old gentleman by her left hand...and the "teen" next to him...and the brunette next to the teen. 'Not too darn difficult to read their thoughts, now is it! :lol

If you would like to throw some racing into the trip I would recommend checking out what Speed Ventures has to offer.

http://www.speedventures.com/events/Default.aspx

They are a very well run group and offer many different levels of driving.

You'll want to call for reservations now. Most state parks book 6 months in advance. I'm speaking from experience and I am local. If you can't get one of the previous mentioned locations, try Newport Dunes in Newport Beach. It's a private resort and centrally located. You may be able to speak with management about the stacker as they have a large area for boat storage/parking.

As far as Huntington goes, I believe in the off season, it's first come first serve. During the summer they turn the RV camping area into regular parking. I could be wrong, I havent been there in a year.

Have a great trip,
Jones :thumbsup

I have a number of properties in Orange County that you are welcome to store your "stacker" during your visit. Also, at my home in San Juan Capistrano (five minutes +/- from Doheney Beach), I have five acres with a place to "plug in" your RV. PM me if I can help.
