My son turned four years old a few months back. Needless to say he has always shown an interest in motorsports so karting seemed like a great place to start him off. I started taking him out to the local kart track a little over a month ago to get him comfortable being on the track and to get a feel for how he would take to it. I can not believe how much he loves driving. This weekend we tried out a new chassis and dropped off another five seconds from the best lap in the video. In one day he ran 83 laps around the track and when he would come in, wouldn't even want to get off of the kart. I can't express how proud I am of him. There's nothing like watching your little ones learn something new. I hope you dads on here can relate to the excitement.

I had my sons in a kart at about that age and in a GT1 Vette at 16. Incredible adventure!

Congrats. Have fun. Be safe!

I didn't hear any turbos... what the hell, dad?

Jason -

Would you put some protective gloves on those little hands, please? Thanks!

PS - I think you've got a winner there.

love the intro music......little dude is doing great. Definately a proud papa moment.

little disappointed Dad hasn't strapped a big ass blower or a couple of hair dryers on that thing yet. ;)

What a son. You should be proud ! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. I just searched around and found some gloves that will fit him. Chris, that's a good looking little guy you've got there. I'm sure he will be driving something soon enough. Now I just need to find a pair of turbos that can be spooled by a 50cc engine and we'll be in business. He won't be technically "race age (5)" for almost nine more months but it seems that some sanctioning bodies are willing to bend the age requirement given you can display driving ability. We'll see how it goes.

He's driving me crazy at the moment..:bored

Keep us posted on Chase's progress...... seriously.....I'd like to see how its done right.

What a name too! They'll be "chasing" him around the track trying to catch him

Very Cool.

Congrats....You are a great dad for making the commitment to get him there and do all that it requires of you. Enjoy.
I didn't know we had a local track in Sarasota.

Awesome, great vid. Had to show my wife that one, she thought it was amazing he seemed to be chomping at the bit to get around the slower traffic.
