So Cal to Scottsdale Rally to Rally to Rally IV

Is anyone interested in forming up a group in Southern California to caravan to Scottsdale? I'll be shipping my car to San Diego and visiting friends in Carlsbad and Laguna Nigel so either the I-10 or I-8 would work for me.

I put together a tentative schedule for the So Cal to Scottsdale caravan from the information I have. Everything is subject to change and I would appreciate input. For example, I know Atomic GT and KJRGT live in West L.A. but I don’t know in what parts thereof. Aloha GT, ENZO BTR and Stunts may be able to meet them in WLA, too.

I am meeting AMB at Ontario Motor Speedway Park (directions below). The group from WLA can also meet us there.

Jeff is visiting in Palm Springs so I thought we could get gas at the Indian Canyon Drive/Indian Ave. Exit and meet him there.

8:00 AM West L.A. - KJRGT, Atomic GT, Aloha GT?, ENZO BTR? and Stunts? meet.

9:00 AM Ontario Motor Speedway Park parking lot - AMB, HiloDave and WLA group all meet here. Smell flowers (may be last chance).

10:30 AM Exit from I-10 at Indian Canyon Drive/Indian Ave. Go right to Chevron station located about 0.1 mi South on Indian Canyon Drive at Garnet Rd. - Meet PL510*Jeff, get gas and smell more flowers (if we can find any) - 30 min.

1:00 PM Blythe, CA - Lunch, look for flowers to smell, get gas - 90 min.

4:00 PM Tonopah, AZ - Get gas, smell cactus - 30 min.

5:00 PM Scottsdale - Eat, drink, be merry.

To Ontario Motor Speedway Park parking lot from I-10.

Take the Haven Ave. Exit from I-10.

Go north on N. Haven Ave. (Turn left if coming from L.A. or right if coming from San Bernardino) 0.6 mi. to Concours.

Turn left on Concours and go 0.3 mi. to N. Center Ave.

Turn left on N. Center and go 0.1 mi. to the parking lot on the right (which is just past the park).

Turn right into the parking lot and meet there.

Looks like there are five of us so far (counting you, KJR). I expect there will be others as we get closer to the date. I can tell you it was a blast driving from SoCal to Vegas last year with about a dozen beautiful GT's. Hope you come with us.

Dave I was all set to make that drive to Vegas and then had to cancel my trip due to a family issue. I did, however, enjoy a shorter drive from Santa Monica to Newport Beach to Rally II with a dozen or so GTs. You are right, a total blast.

1575 miles each way, 3150 miles round trip from West LA to Austin and back. Would be an excellent run fer sure. Might as well hook up with the Scottsdale FGT guys. Have no idea of the quality of weather through Arizona and New Mexico that time of year. Wonder how the FGT is on snowy roads? Ralphie may know? He is up in Oregon now running the red FGT on a renuion trip.

You will stay at the Marriot Old Town Inn Suites in Scottsdale. Don't call there until I have set up the good guy rate. I'll try and do that this week.

I'm glad you asked. I figured that we would meet in So Cal on Saturday AM and drive to Scottsdale for dinner with Chip and company at Trader Vic's.

Sunday would be spent enjoying Chip's hospitality.

Monday would be the drive to Ft. Stockton.

On Tuesday we would complete the drive to Austin for the semi-official dinner.

Does this schedule work for everyone?

I too will be returning alone, as I need to stop in Center Point, San Antonio, New Braunsfels, Ft. Worth, Plano and Burleson on my way back.
