Sat. I,am buzzing the Corvette show-AZ

'Hafta agree about the attitude Ford owners have regarding folks who might also have allegiance to other makes. I attended a big Ford meet at Bickford Ford in Snohomish, Wa., with 4-5 other 'Forum members last summer. I was wearing my 25th Anniversary "Summit Racing" jacket WITH A BIG OL' BOWTIE ON THE RIGHT SLEEVE and I got a LOT of good natured static about wearing that patch "in the enemy's camp"! And I expected that.:lol (I'd have been DISAPPOINTED if I hadn't!) But absolutely N-O-B-O-D-Y "gave me attitude" about it AT ALL. Nobody. 'Darn nice buncha folks.

('Never saw so dang many Mustangs in one place in my entire LIFE!:lol:lol:lol)

Corvettes & Cokes

To the automotive illiterate, "Corvette" is to sports cars as "Coke" is to colas - which is actually an indication of branding success. Maybe it's the ubiquitous nature of the Corvette marque that rankles certain Corvette-only enthusiasts and gives the rest a bad rap. My Ford GT, SPF GT40, SPF Daytona Coupe, Porsche 930, E-Types, and even my XK150 have all been "Corvettes" many, many times over (and I'd wager money that just about every forum member has similar experiences). It must give Corvette-only owners an identity crisis when they overhear it.

After a series of humorous incidents messin' with the truely clueless, Team Jeff, JBG and I decided tell the motoring-challanged folks that the GT is a Corvette-Viper-Ferrari-Lamborgini-Kitcar (or some variation thereof, so long as the word "Corvette" is included). If they question why there's a Ford emblem on the nose, we just say it's because it has a Ford engine. If you say it with a straight face, they're satisfied and go away. :lol:lol:lol

Hmmm....my Shelby Cobra has never been mistaken for a Corvette (the ulitimate insult for the Cobra loyalist) but have had a few ask if it was an MG!

Your point is well taken though.

:thumbsup
