Removing belly pans

I wanted to remove these to clean them before putting her away for winter.

I assume I need a lift for this? Or could I simply jack up just the rear end?

If I do need a lift, if a drive best? Or a 2 post?

Anything I need to know about taking off the pans? Are all the screws the same?

Is there something in the service manual about this procedure? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks in advance!

you will find the instructions on belly pan removal in the oil change section of the Workshop Manual on pages 303-01-06 through 303-01-08.

just a tip -- after getting my Workshop manual, i leafed through it and put stick-em notes attached to important sections. i labelled the notes ("oil change", "coolant system draining", etc.) so i could quickly find these sections.

2nd tip -- before you jack up your car, become familiar with the lift points. two lift points shown on page 100-02-1 are INCORRECT and could result in damage to your undercarriage. search the forum for "jacking points" and you'll find some excellent pictures of where you can safely lift your GT.

i use a low profile jack on the lift "seam" that is almost directly in line with the door entry mechanism. this will lift both front & rear tires simultaneously. i then gently lower the car on good quality floor jacks. i repeat on the other side. if you had a lift, it would make this easier.

post if you need any more help. lots of good technical resources (like Shadowman) on the board.
