Rear Toe Link Boots

My 2005 GT is in at Dellen Ford for its annual service. The tech noticed that the rear outer toe link boots need replaced. Their parts department only has the rear outer link (with boot) available. Does any one have a FMC part number for these boots-or where I can get them?

I did notice on an old post that GT101 might have them.

Thanks!

Ford does not service those separately. Only after market such as what David had ie: GT101

The boots are not sold by Ford seperately. I got mine through GT101. They arrived very quick. Buy a complete set so they are done for good.

I posted the installation before:eek:n a different thread. I obtained mine from GT 101. You will need a heat gun to make the boots fit properly. See pic below:

I emailed them just now as I noticed my drivers side is grease bomb mess... (only have 7,000miles)
About a month ago some new boots for the lower control arm from the EU arrived so not sure if they came from 101?

Plus the bolt for the hand brake that has a boot as well is missing.

I noticed the bottom hand brake bolt has no boot and so did the other side, so now I'm thinking that was designed that way?

101 got back to me on the toe link boots so their ready to go but for some reason he said shipping cost at 40 pounds..... SAY WHAT

Not sure why the OEM boots have failed on the lower control arms and the toe link boots, when other boots like the transaxle and toe link section thats connected to the body are perfect.

Cant be a heat issue on the toe link even though its by the brakes (has the head shield to help) as I've never done any spirited braking, so seems like a poor parts supplier from day 1

The toe link boots just deteriorate with age - same as all of the boots - usage doesn't seem to affect that.

Shipping anything from UK to US is stupidly costly - Rich Brooks might still have stock in the US as I sent a bunch of these to him while back. Might be worth a try.

I'm surprised no one has found a source for these (and the LCA boots) in the US as these are nothing special - you just need to find the right size boot.

Not on site yet - I will try to get them up there in the next couple of days.... Have had them for a LONG time and just re-discovered them doing some year-end (and overdue) shop cleaning!

Any modern chassis grease is fine. I prefer stuff with molybdenum disulfide in it. Most CV joint greases are moly greases.

I found out the inner toe link boot is toast.... Do you have these on the menu? or am I spending $250 on a new OEM one?

Or do I just ignore it and squirt some fresh grease in there?

Going to have a hunt on the poly boots site in Bulgaria and find a fit.
Ive sent them an email on closeness of fitment range that a boot can stretch.

I noticed the outer link ends have to stretch about 4mm (1/6th") to fit both seated boot locations. The length for the boots was pretty much spot

This looks like a great fit for the inner joint.

I found that binding up the spring a few inches made a huge difference in getting the lower arm to align up in time to rejoin it after doing the outer boots.
The twine worked well.... not sure of GT's rear spring rate but I think the twine was 100bl+ breaking so I had well over 1,500lb of hold power there
