WOW, I agree.

Im conflicted, on one hand it is just plain awesome, on the other hand it sucks cause he doesnt drive any of them, or so it seems, I hope Im wrong!

My understanding is that Ralph Lauren drives his cars. Here's his D-Type at Pebble Beach 2010.

One of the guys I'm friendly with has been to and driven many of Ralph's cars, he drives them, loves them, and loves to share his love of them. They're not locked up never to be driven, they're ready to hit the road at anytime, they're maintained and loved!

I read an article that he drives them

Does anyone know the chassis number of Ralph Lauren's Jaguar XKSS? :confused

12 of the 16 XKSS's built were at Pebble Beach in August 2010, and none of them were his. Odd, because his D-Type was there, and because the odds of getting that many XKSS's together again is pretty slim - you'd think he would have sent his car out. I'm wondering if his XKSS is a converted D-Type - a lot of conversions were done over the years, both ways, so sometimes things became a bit muddled.

This is pretty cool... the picture with the description of the 1955 Jaguar XKD’s race record mentions five tracks (Goodwood, Sebring, Nurburgring, Reims & Le Mans) where the car has raced. To follow are pictures of my car at four of these race tracks.

Reims (closed in the early 1970's)

Gierkink,

Epic pics esp Le Sarthe

Reims is amazing; as is Rouen

A pic on the old Monza track with high bank would be amazing

Reims is amazing. Although the track was closed almost forty years ago you can still visit the grandstand and other parts of the racetrack and pit area. In fact all of the photos to follow were taken from the public road I took to visit the track. I drove the entire road coarse as the public roads that made up the race track are still open today.

Thanks to Neilda for suggesting I visit this historic French track back in 2006.

It would be great to see this trip to Europe with our cars get revived as it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So many great old racetracks where these old Lauren cars raced.

Wow

Reims and those sponsor logos are in my vintage posters!

Gierkink, those are just about the coolest pictures I've ever seen!!! Love em. What a great adventure.

The Discovery Channel has been running an excellent 1 hour show about Ralph Lauren's car collection - http://press.discovery.com/ekits/ralphlaurencars/template.cfm?page=pr highly recommended viewing!

If I am not mistaken, didn't one of the Forum members run into him while he had his Mclaren out? I thought there were quite a few pictures posted.

Well I stand corrected and conflicted no more! From the pictures they just seem like show cars and I knew he always has cars at pebble but I don't know of anyone that restores their car for pebble then drives it!

Kayvan,

Let me know if you'd like me to send you high-resolution files of the Reims photos. I can send you these as well as some additional pictures that I didn't post.

I was at a high-end car storage and service facility right next door to Ralph Lauren's new garage about a year ago. It was in the New Bedford, NY (Takonick Parkway?) area as I recall. Some of his cars were stored there while his garage was being completed. Very impressive place operated much like a boat marina. "Have my car ready to roll at 9:00 AM please, James!"
