how good are the RM radar detectors? Battery operated? Where do they 'sit'? windshield or do they have remote stealth sensors, i.e. in the bumpers?

Bony,

Agreed on the Radar jamming front - I think the author of the article was making the point that laser jammers are not yet illegal. And that the authorities were switching to lasers as the currently available radar detectors were just too effective.

I have a battery operated detector that I stick up near the rear view mirror (I think it's the escort solo). It's been very effective and can pickup signals from miles away on the freeway. In the city it produces a ton of xband false alarms. Not a problem as I have no need for it when city driving- that's just way too dumb. Besides it's fairly rare that I can even make it out of first gear tootling around in Venice!!!
