I'm interested in a silver no stripe 2005 and am trying to find out if it is one of the cars with the main seal recall.

I ran the VIN (1FAFP90S95Y401119) through the link in the FAQ's and it can back with "No recalls listed". I thought that odd because i was under the impression the main seal recall was an issue for all 2005 cars.

Don't mean to ask a stupid question, but does this mean this car was not affected or it was affected but the recall has been performed?

Many thanks,

Joe

I think your safe. Most of the 05s under this recall had production build dates in late '04 and early '05. Your date was probably June/July timeframe in '05. That being said, I thought I remember someone on the board with an '06 who had a seal problem which I thought sounded strange.

I'm 1297 and build date was June '05.

The '05 recalls ended before or around serial number 500. It was never an issue with the car you are looking at.

Kirby is correct... You want an 05' with a vin 400 or higher.

My VIN is close at 1111 2005 and no recall

Makes me feel much better about this car, thank you all very much!

You mention a seal recall, I thought it was a crank related issue (not main seal) and also thought that some 05's had suspension arm issues related to stress fracturing! I'm not sure on either count but wanted to try to contribute some info albeit not 100% positive on either count. Worth looking into on both fronts though...Dan
