I called around to discuss the options for a pulley upgrade and after talking to a handful of shops (some are sponsors here on the forum), I am left pondering the potential experience.

1. A 2.7 pulley upgrade is managable horsepower, the Whipple upgrade is not managable power - i.e. will always be correcting the car.
2. The center console has to be dissassembeled as part of the install.
3. The Boom box will need to be removed.
4. The passenger seat needs to be removed.
5. I should consider replacing the shifter at the same time.
6. Reprogram the SCT from the ACCUFAB provided tune. I think Bruce commented on this before.
7. Dyno pulls before and after
8. Ranges from $2,000 to $3,000 depending on where you go.

I have the transaxle cooler, Accufab exhaust, the bellow ring and in possession of an SCT provided by Accufab. BTW - Will also be using California 91 Octane.

For those that have been there, am I forgetting anything? Any regrets with interior body dissassembly?

I have to ask

Does the seat get removed to make it easier to pop out the glass for access to the pulley, or can the pulley be repalced another way?

Sorry

I mean replaced.

Well I know none of that came off when the GT guys did mine. All you have to do is pull the supercharger (sounds easy right..it was I watched Dennis do it :) ) Then on the bench you pull the snout, replace the pulley redo the snout and replace the charger with the stock belt...blow down the tune and away you go.

The interior may be an issue due to the shifter but others can comment on that.

How would you descride the change of your GT with the pulley and tune? From the numbers posted I would think it would be a whole new animal.

I am not sure if the glass comes off, but I am concerned about all the interior component removal.

BTW, what did the gT guys charge?

What interior compartment removal? For the shifter? The bottom portion (black) of the shift tunnel is held on with velcro. Pull that off, get the few screws, problem getting over parking brake, but not much else. If you have Mac, remove it and a wire. Reverse to assemble. Several threads here about this. Use a lot of blue painters tape to protect edges and tools.

Same here... the supercharger came off when Roush replaced my pulley. I'd much rather have the supercharger removed than all of this other stuff.

Can you guys post what you paid as well.

Uh, all that has to come off is the blower. If it required removing half the interior I wouldn't have done it...

I have not done it yet, just doing my due deligence.

DO IT!!

I had the pulley, SCT tune, accufab exhaust, inlet supports, half shaft bolts, etc done and it was less than 5 grand for all of it. :wink

WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! How about breaking the tires loose at 85MPH? How about a nice chirp and slide while shifting into 4th?:lol :lol

THE GT GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! USE THEM!!!!:banana

Check this. I have pics but to big to load on the site of step by step. I think they had it done and dynoed in one day. Nothing inside the car was touched.

Love the tune runs smooth and perfect like bone stock but once you get your foot into it then the smiles start:wink

You'll be happy with the 2.7 alone. Very very little is faster on the street, and it makes for a much more fun ride skidding around the corners. In the heat it will still stick the power as well...

echo,...
The GT GUYS, do it fast and correct.
Heffner Tune, Heffner Pulley, Acufab X pipe = 600 rwhp

Yep, I just did it a couple weeks ago and if you have someone hold the belt while you tip the drive down after you unbolt the S/C from the intake manifold you don't even need to worry about the tensioner..just zip tie the belt to the brace then you can r&r the pulley on the bench and reinstall it by putting the drive back under the belt and bolt it back on the manifold.:thumbsup

Am I correct in saying the when people talk about a pulley change, they are actually changing the whole snout, not just the pulley itself?
