Prices are running up!

Red will always bring the least, all other things being equal. Although white is the second most produced color, it is on par or higher than some of the more rare paint schemes.

There was a post here years ago from Shelby with the order of colors and respective pricing...white /blue was the 1923 brickyard color for the winning car IIRC

Twas.

You are right that prices are much higher recently though, especially on the ultra-low mileage stuff. As always, certain colors are bringing more than others.
Then I stand corrected...but they are averaging much more $ than even 2 years ago, right?

Oh yeah. Big time.

Why is that? I'm curious as I would think they painted more red cars because demand for the color is typically higher. Resale red?

Purely numbers. They were the most commonly produced color. That being said, I think it's one of the best colors for this car.

My gut tells me 20 years from now with numbers continuing to drop, miles and "stories" continuing to rise color will mean less and less except maybe for Heritage.

Ironic that the "Heritage" livery is Gulf heritage, not Ford heritage. Maybe somebody can fact check me, but I don't believe there was any Ford factory support for JW Automotive or Gulf racing.

All other things being relatively equal in terms of condition, I would pay more for the color I wanted.

I totally agree with your statement "20 years from now".

As I understand it Ford turned over all it's notes on development and it was quite extensive but nothing financial.

Agreed.

They painted more cars red because dealers spec'd them that way. A lot of dudes that buy Ferraris absolutely have to buy them in red and some of the other colors are impossible to move. That's certainly not the case with GTs. Red would be the rarest color amongst people I know who ordered the car themselves, but none of them will sit around for very long. Right now people know there will be another red before there will be another blue, and they pay up.

I received this in a email today.....prices holding firm.

Hello,

I wanted to let you know about a 2005 Ford GT, white with blue stripes, four options, that I have available from a client. It was involved in an light accident. I have before and after photos. The original owner who had the accident leaned heavy on his insurance company to total the car so that he could get a new one. My client purchased the car, repaired the car properly, was also inspected by Ford dealership after repair to verify it was done correctly. My client drove the car till 4500 miles and now wants to sell it. I does have a salvage title. The car is being offered for $169,900. This is a great way to get yourself in to a Ford GT for a fraction of the cost.

Please let me know if you have any interest. I can send you before and after pictures.

Thanks.

^^^ Either this guy is dreaming, or there's ridiculous money in Deerfield Beach.

Dang, sell your gold and silver, purchase GT's and then stuff them under the mattress.

I think Randy @ Domani Motors is rolling his own...

Everybody keeps talking about red being the most-produced color, but on my option breakdown sheet from my Certificate of Authenticity package, it says that in 2006, there were FAR more Tungsten cars produced (541, to 348 red). For that matter, the Heritage Blue wasn't far behind the red, at 343.

Unfortunately, that is about the only piece of paper that arrived intact from my whole Certificate of Authenticity package, which arrived on my doorstep sometime last week, in a thin cardboard envelope, in a small snowdrift on my doorstep. It was all completely soggy and disintegrated. I wish Ford packaged such valuable documents better (or send it with signature on delivery)- I figured they could just print me off another window sticker, but they said that there were only two stickers produced for each car, and they just sent me out the second one (and Lord only knows where the original one is). And they don't keep that info stored somewhere, so I may be SOL....

Way more reds in 05. In total there were over 1,000 red cars produced.

Ah.... They only sent me the info sheet on the 2006's...

1/3 of the total production was red. It is and always will be the most common color. No matter what anyone says or thinks, it will always be on the lower end of the price scale. Now, having said that, I have no problem selling red cars and their price difference is not near what it used to be under other colors, but is still less than all other colors the GT was produced in. I'm as happy to buy a Red GT as I am a blue, tungsten, heritage or any other color...., its simply on a different price scale.
